Renegade Sprints Adds Wayne County Speedway to Premier July 4 Weekend

Inside Line Promotions – FINDLAY, Ohio (Nov. 26, 2014) – Wayne County Speedway will be on the Renegade Sprints schedule in 2015.

The 3/8-mile, semi-banked track in Orrville, Ohio, will be featured during a busy July 4 weekend that will likely include races at Hilltop Speedway in Millersburg, Ohio; Millstream Speedway in Findlay, Ohio; and Atomic Speedway in Chillicothe, Ohio.

“The reason we booked a Renegades show is they are working hard,” Wayne County Speedway Owner and Promoter Jason Flory said. “I think our fans are looking forward to having another special event at Wayne County Speedway. We’ve been asked by all our fans to consider it. At the end of the day to be a good race track and give the fans what they want we need a diversified program.”

While finalized dates for the four tracks will be determined in the near future, the Renegade Sprints event at Wayne County Speedway is set for Saturday, July 4.

“We are very excited to have everyone at Wayne County Speedway on board,” Renegade Sprints President Shane Helms said. “We are working very hard to put together a special weekend for the fans, teams and tracks.”

All four races will pay at least $5,000 to win and Helms said the series is working on creating a points fund for teams that compete throughout the holiday weekend.

Additional details about the premier weekend will be released soon.

I have a feeling that the series will grow. I would guess that both Attica and Fremont will have them on their schedule in 2015 when they come out. It might only be a race or two since they are pretty well entrenched with the All-Stars but Fremont schedules already include BOSS, OUTLAWS and FAST events. I think they have about six or seven regular shows that aren't sanctioned or FAST shows.  Many different venues but, in my opinion, it keeps the racefan interested, entertained and coming back. Many of the drivers running RENEGADE shows got their starts at Fremont and Attica. No matter what sport is involved, fans like to see their "kids" grow up to be "big boys" much the same way sprint car fans call Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart, Kyle Larson and Ricky Stenhouse their own. They watched them grow up at home and be successes.  The RENEGADE series will bring them home. The fans will be there.

The more interesting story is...press releases from Wayne County that they are with the All Stars.  This is the race track that insisted they race in the middle of two monsoons during speedweek.  The All Stars backed the track.  This is the moment that the Renegades were born (according to Helms).  Now, Wayne County has been promised $$ and their values go out the window.  I knew this sport had some shady characters...but this deal shows that those who make decisions at Wayne County can and have been bought.  Sad.

Obviously, Jason Flory isn't too worried about being in the middle of all of the drama and feels it will sort itself out without him in the long run. What he IS doing is bringing more special events to the track and giving the fans what he thinks they want. That is how a promoter fills seats-and makes money, which by virtue of the trickle down effect, keeps a track open for fans and racers alike.

I'm pretty sure Wayne County will have at least one All-Star Event in 2015.

The All-Star schedule preview released November 14 states that Wayne County will have 4 All-Star events in 2015. Curious to see if anything changes since the recent Wayne County press release. I think the ball is back in the All-Stars court. Maybe everybody CAN work together.
