Remember the meeting is Dec 20th for Jackson County.
I hope we get a good turn out for the new class.
Bloomington Raceway had a get turn out. With us having Friday and Saturday racing and them every friday night we should have several cars around.

Only idiots would drive 4 1/2 hours to race for 700.00 to win. thats why the 305 class will never grow. You cannot race for that kind of money very long before your broke. I would race a 410 or a 360 for 1200.00 to win. Compeditive 305 motors are almost expensive as a fairly compeditive 360 motor. All you have to do is look at the past to see that sealed motors are not any cheeper to run than any other motors. Our sealed midget engines spent more time on the dyno than they did in the car.

If you are worried about what you are racing for at the local dirt track level, don't buy a single race car part.

Let's see here.....a compeTitive 360 costs say $30,000 (that's low, but it works well in the equation). So, if you win $1200, that's a 4% return on your investment. A compeTitive Racesaver 305 is say $10,000 (yes, people spend $25,000 unneccesarily) and if you win $700, that's a 7% return on your investment.
Yep, sure is easier to go broke with a Racesaver engine than a 360.
I am lucky enough to work at one of the best tracks
anywhere.

Some people think racing is all about the money and you have to spent a fortune to have fun. The sealed Racesaver class is growing leaps and bounds. Bloomington and Jackson are both starting this year. There are more tracks dropping classes than picking up classes. I live over 3 1/2 hours from Bloomington and i will go there to race at least once a month to help support them. I'm certainly not a idiot but i love the sport and not doing it for the money. A wise man once told me if i want to make a million racing start with two million and stop when you only have a million left.
There is no advantage to sinking 10k or better in a racesaver motor, The heads limit the horsepower. This is a class for beginners and veterans alike with 5 to 10k in a motor the will last 40 to 50 races before freshing. This is a no brainer for the guy that just want to have fun and be compeditive.
If you race a 410 or a 360 for 1200 to win and have to freshen them after 10 race to be compeditive for 1200 to win then i would look who is calling who a idiot. Lets say your 410 costs 6000 to freshen (Not New Motor) after 10 races and thats cheap. so each race the motor cost you 600.00. My motor was less than 5k to built (New Motor) and i can get 50 races before freshening that is 100.00 a race for the motor. If I win I get 700 minus the 100.00 motor charge is 600.00. If your 410 wins you get 1200 minus the 600 motor charge you get 600.00. Thing to think about my motor is 5k to 10k new and yours new is 45k to 55k. My right rear is spec Racesaver for 169.00 and lasts 7 to 10 races. Your tire bill is probably around 250 a night. I will make more and have just as much fun as you did with less invested. Don't hate new thing give them a chance.

You might want to look at another thread on this board that is asking how they can keep the cost down in 305 racing, The costs are already out of control, and have been out of control in our local 305 class for years. I just seen a racesaver motor in the classifieds for $30.000.00 WHAT A DEAL. This kind of controlled racing has been tried before and it has never worked. Racers with money are going to spend whatever it takes to win, and everyone else will play catch up. I GUESS YOU CANT FIX STUPID.......................

You say unneccesarily but people still do (as you admit). Sometimes that little/costly edge is just enough to put yourself above the competition and sets the new standard for winning. Lets face it guys want to win in the 305/360 stage, not make money.

Saturday looks like 38 degrees with only a 10% chance of rain.
If you can't make it to the meeting and are interested in the class you can call me or message the promoter at the link below. I hop e we can get a great turn out as alot of other tracks are looking to see the interest we have to see if they will run us next year. Please come or call. https://www.facebook.com/JacksonCoSpeedway

I have not heard that yet but i am having a meeting on monday with brad to discuss the series.
As with any track payout will be based on car count.
With racesaver rules last will get half of what first gets.
Any questions on the series please call and if you can't make the meeting call me and i will fill you in. thanks

So are they saying if we get 10 we'll pay this and if we get 20 we'll pay this? If so that's just penalizing the guys that show up

So a good running 360 doesn't have to cost 30,000, but you are basing the cost effectiveness of a racesaver engine off the most expensive one you saw for sale on hoseheads? That makes about as much sense as your endless bitching of 2 tracks without a history of sprint car racing deciding to add a class.

The payout will change the first year as more and more cars are gettting put together.
There are numerous tracks that do this with start up classes.

With a start up series you have growing pains. The cars up north have a series that is already setup and been estabilished We are trying for the same here but we need to make sure the track owners are happy with the series and turn out before asking for garanteed payouts. Thanks for posting

In Eagle Nebraska, last year we started with the same purse as the weekly 360's got (approx 6700 + tow if applicable), just changed the money around a little.....$700 win, $250 to start.....started with 16 cars opening night, averaged 21 by the end of the year......this season we averaged 30 with a high of 34 and a low of 27........also had 75 entries for the 305 Racesaver Nationals from 12 states $2000 to win and $1000 to start........hopefully expecting 100 this year......360 guys converting and new racers from mini sprints, hobbies, modified and our track (and IMCA National ) champion coming from late models.......seems to work well for the weekly racer.......good luck in 2015.......................SC
