I understand the WoO use transponders for timing and claim that Madsen beat Hirst by .005 , but seeing the picture on Hoseheads main page makes think....HOW? Looks like Hirst has him at the line. I know the pic is a little off angle and I'm not exactly sure where the finish line is exactly, but that pic looks like another winner to me?
do it in the dirt

Depends where the start/finish line is for the transponder scoring loop. Could be before the flag stand??

Plus it looks as if the photographer is past the flag stand shooting at an angle back at the flag stand/cars.

This has been hashed over before--maybe not on this forum--but I have seen this entire conversation take place somewhere. The transponder is placed in the same place on all cars. It does not lie. If you saw a picture where the losing car was in front--this was not where the transponders measured the finish. (like someone before me eluded to)

You started this thread based off of a picture taken from the infield, 100 feet or more away from the start finish line, at a 45 degree angle when the cars appear to already be past the flagstand...? Man i thought I was gonna see some too close to call, at the line, horse racing photo finish type picture. You keep your conspiracy theory...I'll trust the transponder.
Besides, .005 seconds is probably about the length of your penis, so my guess is even if we had such picture it would probably be too small... i mean too close to call.

Also depends on if the loop is straight across the track and where it picks up the transponder. It is the same type loop that is used on the street for vehicle detection.

Assuming the cone is the scoring loop (clarification maybe?) this is about as close as I could get it.
This could be all moot if that's not the scoring loop but it looks like Madsen by a front bumper there.
