While I am glad to see Greg Hodnett win at Port Royal , once again a 50 lap race is not the way to go for todays winged 410 sprint cars for fans to see a good race . Its sad to see racing come to where there is not enough passing because these cars are too locked down . So I say shorter races and make changes to these cars for fans to see better racing or maybe 50 laps could be OK ?

If a car is locked down for 50 laps it will also be locked down for 25 laps. Track prep determines if tack with be moist all night or dry out some in middle. Track prep is really hard to be correct every night. Then you have tires and wings. I do not know of many racers that want to decrease size of wing. Drivers complain now about tires. What if they went to rock hard tires. They would really hate them. Shocks also are so much better now. It is a good question, what can you do and still have happy drivers and owners.

There have been many of those races that were good right to the end. Track prep had a lot to do with last nights race. With that said anyone who has been to at least two dirt track races of any kind should know that with the weather forecast they had no choice but to pack the track early in the day. It poured rain within sight of the track in two different directions right at race time, they were that close to needing it done that way. I am not sure anyone can predict the weather close enough to know that they didn't have to do it that way.

Thanks for all the great replies , your right in your account of what occurred last night . Track prep did play alot into last night's race at Port .It rained everywhere last night , they were lucky to get it in , as I know they didn't want to race tonight going against football . But then all us diehards would have been there and it would have been a better race tonight instead of last night . By the way the track at Port Royal has been great all summer , my opinion is that the Port is now the best track in central Pa . Why , because they care more about fans , making more improvements every year and next on there list is new RESTROOMS which they need badly ,as other tracks could use as well .

I refer to definition of "sprint"......run at full speed over a short distance....
My personal preference is 25 lap features, 30 max. My .02.
