FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SIZZLING MIKE SPENCER RETURNS TO PERRIS AUTO SPEEDWAY FOR HOT AUGUST 70'S NIGHT ON SATURDAY!

(AUGUST 14, PERRIS, CA) Sizzling Temecula, California star Mike Spencer will be looking for his third straight win when Temecula Valley Pipe & Supply presents the Lucas Oil USAC/CRA Sprint Car Series on Hot August 70's Night at Perris Auto Speedway this Saturday, August 18th. Fans born in the 1970's can show a valid id at the ticket window and get in for just $5.00. Spectator gates will open at 5:00 PM with racing at 7:00.

Spencer, who was not born until 1981 (he will turn 26 on September 1st), does have a racing tie to the 1970s. His father, Mike Sr., was CRA co-Rookie of the Year with Buster Venard in 1976. Among Spencer's competition on Saturday will be Venard's son Brian.

Spencer's win last Saturday at the Santa Maria Speedway was his fourth of the season and ties him with Tony Jones for most victories in the Lucas Oil USAC/CRA Series in 2007. Spencer, who earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering at Cal-Poly Pomona, dominated the action at The PAS two weeks ago when the series returned after nearly five weeks off. On that night he earned his fifth fast qualifying time of the season and led the last 20-laps to score a dominating win on the famous Riverside County clay oval. He set fast time again last Saturday Santa Maria and won the main from the eighth starting spot for the second week in a row.

While Spencer has dominated the action the past two races, he has only been able to pick up 10 points on Jones in the fight for the Lucas Oil USAC/CRA Championship. At the same time as Spencer was winning both mains and setting fast time, Jones was second fast qualifier each time and finished third and second respectively in the main events. Thus, the 37-year old from Norco, California still holds a commanding 176-point lead in the standings.

Saturday's Hot August 70's Night celebration will include qualifying, 10 lap heat races, a 12 lap B-Main and a literal 21st century display of Sprint Car ecstasy in the 30 lap A-Main event.

Anyone wishing more information could contact Perris Auto Speedway at (951) 940-0134.
