Correction on that Outlaw (Muskogee) race on Sunday...

That is a ***Southern Region*** race too...not central. So there are 3 points races left in Southern Region!

Stormy Scott's third win in the four Southern Region Speedweek events held so far coupled with the disappointing early exit by Rodney Sanders at Superbowl last night, has now opened up a big point lead for Stormy and he could be on his way to his 2nd regional title of the year. Only 2 Oklahoma races remain in the Southern Region for 2014. They are TONIGHT at Southern Oklahoma Speedway in Ardmore and tomorrow (Sunday) evening at the Outlaw Motorsports Park in Oktaha (20 miles south of Muskogee and right next to US Hwy 69).

Should Scott win the Southern points and then win the Central points when that region finishes up July 15th-19th, he could still win a combined total of $75,000 in USMTS point fund money by then winning the points in The Hunt for Casey Cup's National Championship chase in August and September.

Twin brother Johnny Scott -- last year's Southern Region champion -- finished 2nd at Superbowl last night and 14th starting Chris Henigan made his first Speedweek appearance count with a 3rd place finish. Clyde Dunn, Jr. scored his third straight top 4 finish after starting 17th and his fellow row nine starter Cade Dillard got the remaining top 5 finish.

Tulsa's Chad Davis had a fine run and ended up 6th after leading a lot of early laps. Waco's Chase Jupe was 7th, Chris Brown came from 20th to finish 8th, Colby Smith got a hometown 9th and Philip Houston rounded out the top 10.

UNOFFICIALLY, Sanders will still be 2nd in points but Johnny should retake third from Kelly Shryock after Kelly's 21st place finish. Dillard and Dunn are still 5th and 6th but the gaps have closed a little bit more between 4th, 5th & 6th.

Rodney Sanders started 7th in Ardmore last night, passed early leaders Adam Penn and Dan Hilsabeck and checked out for a huge win! Hilsabeck tied his best ever USMTS finish with a 2nd and Penn had his best finish with a 3rd. Bryan Rowland and Chris Henigan (started 13th) finished 4th and 5th. There were 42 USMTS Mods there.

Point leader Stormy Scott had to use a provisional to start 25th but he rallied up to a 6th place finish and maintained a 50-point lead on Sanders. Clyde Dunn. Jr. got his 4th straight top 7 finish and Cade Dillard had his 3rd straight top ten with an 8th place finish. Johnny Scott & Chris Brown were 9th and 10th. The last 30 laps or so went green all the way and Sanders was so fast in this one that Brown was the first car one lap down. 24 of the 26 starters were still running at the end of this one.

50 points is the minimum awarded for starting an A-main. 24th place on back gets 50, 23rd gets 51 and it goes up to 100 to win. So does 23rd mean Stormy locks it up? Not quite, if Sanders does what he did last night, he'll get 103 points. 1 extra for leading a lap and 2 more for leading the most laps. UNOFFICIALLY, I think if Stormy finishes 20th or better, he wins the region. 21st and we could go to tiebreaker rules if Sanders duplicates last night's effort.

Johnny Scott can't afford much of a stumble tonight if he wants to keep 3rd in the standings. He has a 32-point lead over a tie for 4th between Kelly Shryock & Dillard. Dunn is keeping the battle for 4th somewhat interesting from for his 6th place as well as he trails that pair by 40. Iowa's Hilsabeck is only 22 behind Dunn though.

The big scramble is on from 8th through 13th place in the standings which are only separated by 44 points. Dereck Ramirez, Jake Gallardo, Phillip Houston, Rowland, Bobby Malchus and Chris Dawson will have to sort that out TONIGHT!

By the way... don't know if the artwork was designed specifically for the track or where exactly it came from but Outlaw Motorsports Park has to have the coolest track logo!
