Antioch Speedway cancels the King of the West 410 Sprint Car Series event scheduled forJuly 26/ Event moves to the Tulare Thunderbowl Raceway on same date

Aptos, CA – June 23, 2014…With the Antioch Speedway recently canceling the July 26 King of the West date that was scheduled to take place at the Contra Costa County Fairgrounds facility, we are excited to announce that the event will now occur at the Tulare Thunderbowl Raceway.

We apologize to all that had planned to attend the race and see Winged 410 Sprint Cars at the Antioch bullring, but we do encourage all of the local fans to attend the August 2 King of the West 410 Series event just up the road at the Stockton Dirt Track.

The King of the West 410 Sprint Car Series is extremely happy to work with promoters such as Steve Faria, who welcomes KWS with open arms and has helped fill the void on July 26.

“We really want to give a big thanks to Steve Faria for his help in making sure that our teams and fans don’t lose a race,” said PMG President John Prentice. “When I had called Steve to make him aware of the situation before I could even finish my sentence, he said we’d love to have the race at Thunderbowl Raceway. Steve also helped with moving the Cotton Classic from Hanford to Tulare on October 11, so we hope all the fans and teams understand how much he has supported the series.”

The next scheduled event for the King of the West 410 Sprint Car Series is the fourth annual Howard Kaeding Classic at Ocean Speedway. The tour will then head for the Placerville Speedway on July 19, before now moving on to the Tulare Thunderbowl Racewayon July 26, then the Stockton Dirt Track on August 2.

Coming off a successful weekend in Watsonville and Calistoga the King of the West 410 Sprint Car Series will look to build on that momentum as the summer goes on.

“Our PMG staff is working extremely hard to continually look for ways to improve the KWS Series and make it a great experience for the fans, drivers and promoters. I find it to be in poor business practice and extremely unprofessional for a promoter to cancel a race that they previously agreed to hold at their track and do it at the 11th hour. PMG’s goal has always been to partner with promoters who want to work as a team to provide a quality show for their fans. Clearly, John Soares is a Promoter that has completely different business practice then PMG and we find it in KWS’ best interest to not book races at his track in the future. In the past Mr. Soares also canceled KWS events scheduled for Merced, with that happening three years in a row.”

With as much as people have bitched about how they were treated at Antioch in the past I've always been surprised at how you kept going back for more. Nice to see it looks like you have finally learned your lesson and are moving on. Soares probably blew his wad on last week's event.

Nothing against Scott Woodhouse but it definitely wouldn't be the end of the world if Steve Faria took over King's Speedway in Hanford too.

I doubt he wants to run a weekly track, he has often preached "race less, make more"....paul

Not WoO, No KWS, No CWS, no reason to ever go to Antioch as far as I am concerend. Certainly not going to watch some 12 car watered down 360 show when other weekly tracks are running their great programs. I just hope Stockton Dirt track doesnt follow this same path of trying to steal cars away from local shows by throwing big $$$ at the racers.
