...this weekend and maybe even all season!!! No Joke!

***This year's COMP Cams Doug Murphrey Memorial Finale BETTER Than Last Year's!***

Have you seen the list of 83 drivers who ran the double heat races last night? What a field! Do not let a forecast & $15 keep you from seeing this one!!! If the silly weatherman had been right about all he said this week, no way we would have raced last night but HERE WE ARE!!! And you don't see a field like this anywhere -- Modified or Late Model -- for just $15 grandstand admission. (Kids 10 & under free in grandstand with adult) Race time 7:30pm. All pit passes are $35 tonight. We ARE getting this in...even if it takes the rest of the weekend to do it!

And we just dodged another thunderstorm bullet. If you look at the past weather radar loop for Vivian from the last couple of hours, you'll see Vivian & north got hit pretty hard. The track sits 3 miles southwest of town though and only got sprinkles. We missed the first wave of the day again! All you folks crossing your fingers & toes worked that time. Keep it up! www.weather.com/weather/map/interactive/USLA0480:1?interactiveMapLayer=radar&baseMap=r&zoom=7

Based on last night's performances, the only two racers who are guaranteed starting spots in the $10,000-to-win A-main TONIGHT are Jeremy Payne and Terry Phillips who both drive GRTs, both are from Springfield, Missouri and they just happen to be the last 2 winners of this event. They are only guaranteed the 11th row however. 21st & 22nd starting spots. They still have to run their COMP Cams A-qualifier tonight to get a better spot. Should either one have trouble in it...we'll be watching them come from row 11!

The racer who is third in the standings looks refreshed and ready to strike! Steve Whiteaker, Jr. isn't on the road as much this year as he has been in year's past. Looks like he unloaded from Corpus Christi ready for bear at Ark-La-Tex though where he has had some good runs before. Could be 89c's night! Should either Phillips or Payne transfer out of their #COMPCams A-Qualifier, then Whiteaker has a guaranteed spot no matter what happens by the time the 3rd qualifier goes green. Same deal, 11th row. The top two in that list of 83 who do NOT transfer from their qualifier, get the 11th row.

So far, Geoff Lary of Minden is backing up that runner-up performance he had in this race last year. He leads the locals again and is the top IRP Chassis. 6th after last night.

Who is this year's Geoff Lary? GO TURTLES GO! Trevor Egbert of Salado, Texas is 4th in points. All he needs is for 2 of the top 3 to transfer in and he's in the A. But the way he ran last night, can't blame him for looking for much better than that!

Cade Dillard of Robeline has made all 4 Doug Murphrey Memorial A-mains at ALT. He sits 5th in points and looked really fast last night. He seems poised to improve on that best finish of 12th (twice) for sure. Little brother Caleb Dillard wasn't bad either. He's 17th in points out of 83 cars!

2011 champ Johnny Bone Jr. of Pea Ridge, Arkansas skipped this event last year but returned with a solid 7th place points position after qualifying. Last year's 3rd place finisher Lucas Lee is the best Tennessean (Paris) at the moment in 8th but Matt Cooper (McKenzie) is 11th in his first appearance ever at ALT.

A couple of racers who are having great 2014 seasons so far are 9th and 12th in points. They are Dallas Everett of Beebe, AR (two wins at Timberline and a runner-up at the Max Adams Memorial at Diamond Park) and Jon Mitchell of Texarkana, TX (3 SUPR Late Model wins including 2 last weekend at Sabine & Lonestar).

LG21 front man Chris Brown from Spring, TX rounds out the top ten. Chris Henigan? Still very much in the hunt in 13th. Only a fool would count out #16 at ALT! Any talent drop off after 13th? Are you kidding me? Clyde Dunn, Jr. (Sunnyvale, TX) and Hunter Rasdon (Jonesboro, AR) are 14th & 15th.

IF you still need it.... MORE in a minute... There are plenty of good ones all the way down the list!!!
