I  love   all  racing , but as I   see it , its  time for local and national  promoters  or sanctioning groups  such as   NASCAR , WoO  , NHRA  INDY CAR  and all   others  to do more   for fans who  pay top dollar for hotel rooms , concession foods  , fuel , and more  for them to enjoy the  sport we all  love  .  And  its time we as  fans , propose , or ask these individuals or organizations  to do more for our  loyalty  at there events . I 'd  like to know  what you think ?

What are they supposed to do?  Unless they own the hotels, they can't do anything to get them to drop prices (and it's not just racing events that cause hotel prices to increase, take a look at any tourist destination, prices are SIGNIFICANTLY higher during their peak season than any other time of the year.

What they can do:  Run an effecient show, have clean restrooms, reasonable concession prices and have reasonable ticket costs.

They can only control what they do, they can't control other independent businesses (how many "destinations" out there have gas prices that are $0.30 / gallon higher than just 20 minutes away in another town?  A lot of them you'll find) and how they do business.  Hotels are gonna raise prices during weekends when they can sell out their rooms, some restaurants and such will do the same, same goes for parking fees ($5 parking for an event that draws 3500 may go to as high as $20 for an event that draws 20,000).

As a fan, you have to pick and choose where and when to spend your $$$.  I choose to spend mine where I get the most bang for my buck.  Others choose to only attend WoO events, others to only attend weekly racing, and others to only attend "specials".  It's all personal preference, but in the end it's our (racefans) $$$$.  It's up to us to make the decision.  As long as the racetrack/sanctioning body is delivering what I expect for tickets / concession prices, I'm ok with it.  When they overcharge and under-deliver, they cease to get my $$$.

There   is much more the tracks can do   for  fans , but  i am not going to tell  them what to do  or how to it if they  want  to know  I can show them . They can  be more creative  for you the fans  and for you  to get more  for your  money .  Most   fans are not  getting the most  for there  buck , and the  so called   marketing  experts   are not doing there jobs  either  . REWARD  FANS  NOT  JUST  TAKE  , or  put on  better shows  , but  yes  we  have  to  pick and choose  what and where  we   go  ,but  that  does  not  necessarily   happen , because  fans are  so loyal  and want to see  any race .

There are some web site that people rent out basements, spare rooms, etc. When the Huskers have big home games Lincoln rooms go to $400-500 a night, 3 night min. These deals are getting big play in those scenarioes. May be worth a look. Not sure my wife would but i prob would if alone.

Your rant is no worse then a lazy ass unskilled person crying for a 15 dollar min wage. Be lucky you got a race track to go to and support.

I don't aim to please.
I aim to hit the target.

Do more for fans? Hell, I'm lucky to get to three races a year and I'm thankful for that.

All I need is a seat, a Beer stand, a restroom and maybe, just maybe, a concession stand.  I do not need anything else from the racetrack, well, except a good product on the track that does not take all night to run.

Really? You get on here and make a blanket statement about tracks doing more for fan but you wont provide examples? Please tell us exactly what the tracks should do for the fans.

I dont think its asking to much to have a peice of paper they give you OR stick in their programs of the drivers there that night, making sure they have enough water on the track so we dont need to shower after their event, clean restrooms.good food. Most of all a announcer. If owned a track i would want to make sure i did all i could to have fans come back.

I am curious where your home track is? Clearly you are bitter about something. I have been to dozens of tracks over the years, some are better than others but they are the ones putting on the show. They don't owe me anything. They put on the show and I pay to watch it and if I don't like it I don't go back. I would rather just go see a race without all the circus crap some tracks do to "entertain" the fans.  I don't want to see an annoying clown in a little truck yell at me, push off the next race!

Pick your favorite local track and show them the  " cash " you will be adding to a special event purse at the track.  Might as well do that instead of contributing to the " motel room gougers ".   Besides, you can sleep in your own bug free bed and fuel costs will be minimal.   And buy a hot dog for your local  " Earl ".

All a promoter needs to do is concentrate on getting cars on the track and completing the show at a reasonable pace so that spectators with children and a life can head out at a decent hour while still being able to enjoy some quality racing. The attraction should be the racing. If they were to start putting any effort anywhere else I would like to see it go towards advertsing to get the word out. Other than that a good show does not need to offer fans "more", they just need to smooth out the edges of the program. In other words move it along at a reasonable pace. I truly believe that the move towards adding more classes is not helping. It increases revenue at the back gate and drives people from the front gate. As a racer I am no longer going to local races on my off weekends because I am tired of sitting through 5 to 8 classes of cars, more than half of which I could care less about.

I get 3 classes of sprint cars at Knoxville with 30+ 410's with over a dozen of those capable of winning on any given night. What more could I ask for for $15? I go to races to see racing, don't need any other entertainment. No clowns, throwing frizbees, foot races or 6 classes of stock car junk.

+1   You wouldn't be from Texas would you Sprinter79?   Of course I'm sure the trend towards 8 classes is done in plenty of  other places.

Agreed 100%.  This seems to be the problem at Wilmot.  As long s there are no weekly Sprints, they will have a problem with ront gate.  Everyone and his Brother and Sister go in the pits, so the back gate there is big.  Look in the stands and i looks like very small crowds.  IMCA Mods, Mini-Sprints (which I like) Street Stocks, and fabulous 4's?  C'mon. Keep the Streets, the Mini's, and Sprints.   That last one won't happen tho, not in the forseeable future.  Lose the rest.  JMO
