Any feed back from anyone  on  the meet and great out at the front gate. ,,,, On having the drivers meeting out front with USAC  So the fans can be there to listen in. ,,, This would be like the fans getting inside information on what to expect for that nights show. ,,,,,,, Open the front gates for the fans at 3;30 . ,,,, Drivers meeting at 4;30 -  out front with the fans. ,,,, Hot laps start at 5;15. ,,,,,,, This would give the fans 1 hour with the cars and drivers. ,,,, and than the drivers meeting. ,,,,, This would  be ' OUT STANDING ' for the fan base that shows up to support the USAC/CRA Sprint cars . ,,,, Not to mention this would be a great fan apprecaition from the PAS.     Wait do you think??????. ,,,,,, ZZ

Another good discussion with a lot of good ideas.

It seems our goals are:

1. Finish racing at an earlier hour.

2. Create more interaction between fans and teams to build fan base.

Currently racers families sit in the parking lot with no food or drink for 3 hours waiting for the spectator gates to open. This discourages them from coming to the races but they do it anyway. Fans arriving early “tailgate” in the parking lot. Lets open the front gate at the same time as the pit gate and encourage fans to come out early. Maybe offer a food special (slice of pizza and large drink for $5.00?) to entice them. End the special price at 4 PM? Some teams have a “show car”. Put 1 or 2 of these out front and staff it with 1 or 2 people who are knowledgeable about the cars and the racing. New fans arriving early will be able to see the car, ask questions, sit in the car and get to know racers families and you “hardcore” fans all in a low key environment. I still remember our family sitting in the stands at Ontario Motor Speedway in 1980 for a Nascar race and discovering that we were sitting next to the family of a Nascar driver from Kansas who was in his first year on the circuit. It made our day. The people working the show car would explain that after the races, fans can go in the pits to meet the teams, and give them a discount coupon to use when buying tee shirts, hats, etc.

Meanwhile, back in the pits, lets do away with the drivers meeting. Replace it with a handout sheet when you get your pit pass. Get cars on the track about 3:30 for hot lapping. Follow that with heat races and semi (if needed) for support classes. At 6 PM start sprint qualifying, then sprint heat races. Next is a support class main, sprint semi, support class main, sprint main. Strive to get the gates to the pits open no later then 9 PM. I am sure the racer families and hardcore fans will gladly guide their new found friends through the pits and introduce them to the drivers and crews.

That’s my 2 cents worth. What do you think?

the main body of the crowd does not get to the track until after 6 pm . i make it a point to watch the stands at intervals each race . hopefully this change will help those hard core 410 sprint car fans to get home a little earlier and get a great nights sleep .  something it may change is some of the usac guys will be loaded up ready to leave when the people from the stands get their chance to go to the pits , this will be disappointing for some fans ,  some of the drivers will be gone . in my opinion this is a step backwards . the only real answer is getting all the racing done before 10 pm . i have seen it done at other tracks with more cars . i have no problem with the race format or the time i get home . i believe the pas does an outstanding job , and i look forward to going there each and every time !

Axle,    Most of the time I am at the front gate when it opens. ,,,,, there are usually around 150 fans in line at the ticket      booth   when it opens  , and about 25 in line at the gate that have season tickets or free passes to get in. ,,, I think if the meet and great would be a for sure thing ,  that fans may show up a little early to participate in the meet and great. ,,,, The USAC/CRA sprints are only at the PAS but 1 time a month. ,,,, And if the fans know that this will take place every time they race there. ,,,, the fans may show up for it . ,,,,  I know a lot of the fans do not go into the pits after the races. ,,,, for one reason or another. ,,,, and miss out on talking with the drivers and buying their t-shirts. ,,, I know that when you do get in the pits , its dark and hard to see the cars close up . Plus the cars are being set up to be put back into the trailer. ,,,, For a new fan they feel that they are in the way,  and stay back. Then you have the teams that did not make the main and they are all loaded up ready to go. ,,,,, now you have big rigs with their big traliers trying to get out. ,,,  Thats why I feel a meet and greet out front would be by far the best time to talk with drivers and buy their t-shirts. ,,, The cars are nice and clean ,,, and it is bright out so you could look under the rear end and see the jacob's ladder and  know what it looks like. ,,, A lot of fans hear during the night that someone broke a  Jacob's ladder. ,,,,,,  What the Hell is a Jacob's ladder. ,,,, Well sitting in the stands, it is hard to explain to a new fan,,,, and for them to understand what it is. ,,,,,, Back when SCRA would do this out front , It was mandatory for cars and drivers to be out front for a meet and greet. ,,,,, I really think that this will catch on and be a GQQD thing for the fans and drivers. ,,,, Open up the front gates at 3;30 pm,,,,,, drivers meeting out front at 4;30 ,,,, hot lapping starts at 5;15. ,,,,, then 6;00 pm Qualifing. ,,,,, Green flag 7;00 . ,,,,,,, WHAM BAM, THANK U MA'AM. ,, ,,, we should be outa  here around 10;00 . ,,,,,, It sounds good if it works. ,,,,, ZZ

BCB64. ,,,, We are on the same page. ,,,, Also we need to get back to the main event line up. ,,,, have the cars all lined up on the front straight away,,,,, and do the drivers intros. ,,,, When the cars get pushed off ,,,,, and scott starts talking about the drivers. ,,,,, a new fan has no idea who their talking about. ,,,,, Having the cars scattered around the track, then pushing them off . ,,, Just doesn't make it.  A new fan has to be able to put the name of the driver to the car. ,,,, and yes this will take some time for a new fan to learn !!!!!!. ,,,,, ZZ

I agree. Once the cars are at speed, you can't hear the announcer so any time the cars aren't at speed, the announcer needs to be talking about what fans are going to see, driver tidbits, etc. The main event line up is part of what sprint car racing is. Keep your thinking cap on!

That's is not absolutely correct . Where I sit I hear Scott just fine and if I sit somewhere else I have a transistor radio. Which I enjoy because not only can you hear Scott better but you hear his team in the back ground feeding him info as needed. And if you are sitting where you can watch Jimmy and Kevin in the flag stand you may enjoy it even more . I know I do.

We need more sprint car racing at our home track.

The fans do not arrive early for meet and greets. Turkey Night always had them halfway through the show.

Not sure how we can whine about getting the show in on time then want driver intros...

DUE TO FANS INPUT PERRIS MAKES CHANGE IN RACE NIGHT FORMAT!

(Perris, CA, April 24, 2014)  Due to input from the racing fans, there will be a change in the race night format when the Amsoil USACCRA Sprint Cars, PAS Senior & Young Gun Sprints and the California Lightning Sprint Cars return to the “Southern California Home of Major League Sprint Car Racing,” Perris Auto Speedway, on May 3rd.

The USAC/CRA main event has traditionally been the fourth and final main of the night.  Starting next Saturday it will be the second of the four main run.  A majority of the crowd comes to watch the USAC/CRA portion of the show and many of them travel long distances from as far away as Nevada, Arizona, Utah and Northern California.  Many would like to get an earlier start on their journey home.

“In an effort to provide our loyal fans a better experience at the speedway, the main event lineup for May 3rd will be as follows,” Kazarian said on Wednesday morning.  “PAS Senior Sprints, will run first followed by USAC/CRA, PAS Young Guns and California Lightning Sprints.  This will allow those fans who are there for USAC/CRA only to not have to wait until the end of the night.”

Normally PAS shows are over in a timely manner, but every so often, a show will run late.  That was the case with the 2014 season opener.  Numerous fans made contact with track management and also voiced their opinion on social media venues.  First word of the change on Wednesday drew a lot of attention on social media watering holes and it did ruffle a few feathers.

“There were a few people who were unhappy when they heard of the change,” said longtime track announcer and publicist Scott Daloisio.  “They have to understand that about 80% of the fans are there for the USAC/CRA portion of the show.  Without those fans there, USAC/CRA would not be there and without USAC/CRA there would not be a sprint car show.  I talked to several people about it yesterday and when explained why the change was being made, they seemed to understand.”

Open wheel shows are subject to delays when cars flip.

“Flips in sprint car and midget racing are a part of the sport,” Daloisio said.  “That is something nobody has control over and it causes more time lost than anything else at all tracks.  When a car gets upside down even under the best circumstances it averages about 12 minutes until you are racing again.  The safety crew comes out and checks on the driver.  Then the car is picked up and taken back to the pits.  All of the remaining cars have to be pushed off to restart.  If it happens five times a night, that is one hour.  Once again, sprint cars getting upside down is part of the sport.”

Before the May 3rd sprint car show, The PAS will host “Night of Destruction #2” this Saturday, April 26th.  The wild and crazy program will feature Figure 8 races, Figure 8 Trailer racing Democross and Spectator races.  Gates will open at 5:00 PM.  There will be an on track autograph & photo session at 5:30 and the first race will be at 7:00.

For more information on The PAS call: (951) 940-0134.

Camping for all events at The PAS is available for $25.00 per night.  The campground will open at noon on Friday.  Tailgating in the spectator parking lot will begin at 1:00 PM for all PAS events as well.

Great news  as fans have been suffering and being short changed for years especially at tracks with a curfew. I have tried with four different promoters to get them to run their features earlier because those red lights going out the gate are fans who came and paid to see the feature. They leave for many reasons; young children, a cold night, age, illness or lateness of the total program. As pointed out, they do not come for the mini`s.uper mods or Hobbies even though they may enjoy them. They pay exrta to see the Late Models and sprints of all classes. Yes I am aware of the macho men who are in shorts and T-shirt at 11:00, but I am 82 and while I wish I had their endurance and resistence to the cold, I would rather be on my way home.

I hope more promoters would take a pole of their fans and do what the want, not ther old statement that I got all the time; THE FEATURE IS ALWAYS RUN LAST. BALONEY ON THAT. iT IS TIME TO THINK OUT SIDE THE BOX.

RAYO. ,,,,  Well said ,,,, ,until we start getting younger Sprint car fans in the stands to replace us old farts !! ,,,,,,the current Sprint car fan is in their 60s + .  now thats about two thirds of the grand stands. ,, With all the dead time in between races. ,,, just sitting in the stands ,,, listening to interviews,  or having loud music blast over the PA. ,,, is not making time go buy any faster . ,,, mean while you just sitting there frezzen your ass off. ,,', THIS GET THE SHOW GOING.' ,,,,.  This is the reason I stoped going to the PAS.  But now with the change in the show,, having the 410s in the 2 main,,,,, I plan on going to the may 3rd show to see how it goes. ,,,, If it goes well I"ll start coming back to the PAS/ ,,,, I will be  there and pay for a well run show.   I hope this works ,  becouse I really miss my Sprint car racing. ,,,, ZZ

I disagree.

The fans of the other classes deserve to see a main in a timely fashion. Also, people wanting to see the CRA drivers and their families in the stands will still be there...

Just because I might not enjoy it or want to see it, the other classes are there, they are racing and their drivers and crews work hard. Their families cheer just as loud. Also. They paid the back gate and are probably racing for trophies and handshakes...

The whole show, not just CRA.

AGREE OR DISAGREE   ????.  ,,,,,, for what ever size the crowed is,  About 75 % are their to see the USAC/CRA Sprint cars. ,, If their was no Sprint cars at all involved in the show. ,,, You would be lucky to have 500 fans in the stands.  Thay are their  to see the sprint cars. ,,,, And  Yes the other classes do deserve their time on the track. ,, But at the PAS ,,,, To many classes and the show gets over too late. ,,,,  And yes all the familles that are in the stands ,,,,,, Will wait for the show to get over even if it take until 12:00 midnight. ,,,,, But the fans will be long gone !!!!!. ,,,,,, ZZ

So a movie or a play and even a concert is 2 to 3 hours and anything after that is way to long.  Drag racing runs support classes before the main shows and only runs finals on there final day.  I think that support classes should run there heats before the show starts.  Open the gates early for families to see them.  Have a small meet and greet with some of the cars and drivers at the entrance before the races and as the monster trucks do get a couple of drivers after the races to meet the fans on the way out.  You could qualify at 6:00, start the show at 7, Run CRA heat races, Support main, Cra Semi, support main, and Cra Main event and be over by 9:00 or ten.  The fans would still get to see ther favorite driver after the Cra main.  And I still think the cars need to be self starting.  Just my 2 cents worth.
