It won't hurt. A piece on the news is probably more effective and more cost effective than buying spots on the station. Fans will already know about the race because they are fans. Advertising is for attracting spectators (there is a difference). If someone from San Diego sees this and decides to attend, they will spend a lot of money so they will expect a really good show. They will probably leave home about 2 PM, drive about 100 miles, watch a show that gets over at 11PM and then drive 100 miles back home arriving sometime after 1AM. That is a very long day. Will they come back for a CRA show? Will it be a family? Would you drive 200 miles to see a movie if it was 6 hours long? Even if it was a great movie?

The bottom line is you can't harvest your crop until you have sown the seeds and tended your crop until it is ready to be harvested. We have the seeds, but we haven't planted them yet. We are not going to fix this situation until we get a strong base of local, non touring, weekly racing. The current program does a really good job of discouraging people from getting into sprint car racing.

I hope everyone who can, will go watch this show. This is a HUGE financial gamble for Don K. If we don't put on a show that people will come to see more than once, then money spent on advertising is wasted.

The promoter up here at Silver Dollar promotes regularly on TV up here. He does sort of an imitation Cal Worthington thing. However, the advertising rates are probably a lot lower here. They have several assisted living homes that advertise on TV in the area. They even have Mom and Pop restaurants advertise on the local stations.

How do you explain Industry speedway FILLING the stands for the Monster Show and having great attendance for Wednesday nights?

What about Costa Mesa standing room only for the Nationals, full for the Matherson cup, pretty damn near capacity every saturday night?

Both advertize on radio. KLOS, KROQ and one other station I can't think of right now. Then the radio stations advertize the event on their web calendar and websites.

KROQ Link

There are a lot of people in Los Angeles and San Diego counties stuck in morning / evening traffic listening to the radio that hear that advert twenty times a week...
