Don't get me wrong I like Sheldon he's a balls to the wall racer just like his dad but they have been know to be pretty hard on equipment.I also thought the 83 team was getting short on funds and parked it that's why Shaffer went to the 55 car to finish out the season I could be wrong.

Bryan Sebetto, he's available and a decent shoe.  Did well at the King of the 360's.  He's also done well in the FAST series.  Fmiliar with the tracks the team would most likely be racing at anyways.

Its statements by uninformed people like this that have drivers and owners always shaking thier heads at some people on public forms. One should know what they are talking about before delivering such strong comments. Yes there is freedom of speech but that doesnt automaticaly translate into "educated intelligent comments".

Maybe you could enlighten us with some detailed information in this regard.

Who quits a job after 3 days on the job?  This kid could crap his pants in the car and people would like the smell. Maybe hes used to getting everything he wants right when he wants it. Now you can all tell me the kid has already paid his dues...I beg to differ.

Love when people openly run their mouth on a subject they have little to no business commenting on... Lots of people quit jobs/rides when they realize that what they were told isn't the full truth. Fact of the matter, you sound very envious of Bell's successes, and it's fans like you that are taking it's toll on this sport. I'm sure you complain about those drivers that gain rides because of money, and bag on those who have achieved rides based on sure talent alone...

This is a messsge board. Get over yourself. Do you have personal knowledge of the facts behind his departure from the 83 team  or are you just a homer? I doubt you know any more than anyone else on here. .

How can anyone quit after 3 races. Just because the car was bad one weekend he quits. Maybe he felt he was better than what the car let him showcase. Seems to me like someone wasnt getting their way, and took their ball home.

Well, considering I talk to Chris daily, I would go with I have personal knowledge of the facts behind his departure. You're just a typical keyboard warrior that hides your identity behind your fake alias.

What people fail to comprehend in this situation is the 83 Holbrook team is a shell of it's former self. It's not the same people running the show that won the Knoxville Nationals. Shaffer saw the writing on the wall and left. Bell did the same.
Bell brings down Hall of Famer Rick Ferkel to wrench for him down in Florida, They let Ferkel set the car up for his first night at Bubba he started 19th and finishes 8th which by all accounts was a hammer down track, After that race Rick Ferkel's services where no longer wanted and changes that Rick made to the car where dismissed and changed back to what they had before Rick got there... Don't feel bad for Rick though, he wrenched for PPM and got a victory at East Bay.

Chris made a decision that I think many of us put in his situation would have made.

Sincerely,
The Homer

Thank you for the information on the reasons for his departure. Its obvious you're fond of Bell and thats fine. There's no doubt hes very talented and I hope he does well wherever he goes. I think he should have given it some more time. We can agree to disagree.

And by the way im just a long time race fan and have sponsored a sprint car in the past. People like Bell are good for the sport. Just enjoy racing and support those you want to support and relax...

Sincerely

Keyboard Warrior (i prefer keyboard jockey)

When I talked to Rick back in December he said that he was going to be a driver (Chris) handler.  Then he took over the wrenches. He qualified 19th and made a great run.  The first volusia night he qualified about the same, was coming through the pack and stopped. (later found out he pulled all of his tearoffs...it happens)  Struggled with qualifying big time, but appeared to race pretty well when on the track with other cars.  I didn't stay the final night, (kinda upset I didn't get to see the King win) but it appears he made a great run then spun out and came back to 12th.

I did go to East Bay and the number you drew determined your night.  If Rick is to get credit for the win for PPM, how about a third row starting spot that got dropped to the back and eventually lapped.  Crew chiefs get mentioned only when winning, but never their fault when it goes bad.

I guess my post is to defend the car owners when Rick was really going to help Chris and then decided the guy they hired wasn't good enough.  The guy was a crew chief for Shane Stewart when he won about 50 races over a three year period, and also crewed for Lasoski at beefpackers, Dollansky and Jason Johnson.

I also think Rick is very capable, but he overstepped his position and got Chris to follow him out of the ride, which is his right.

I feel that if you run good in Florida you have to forget it...and when you run bad in Florida you have to forget it.

Chris will be fine, and I guarantee the phone is ringing off the hook with the 83 ride open.  I doubt they will have any worries.

Well if indeed Rick Ferkel was supposed to be a driver "handler" I think Bell made the right move leaving based on Rick's advice. Thats what a young rookie should do. Pay attention to the advice of knowledgable veterans in the sport who are guiding you and trying to prevent failed career moves. Sounds like its a shame that the 83 has fallen apart. They were at one time a very stout team. Bell will be just fine, in fact I bet he has a more productive season than anyone who jumps in the 83 to replace him.

Cheers!

Ha, ha!  But my wife says she can top that!

She took a job in a dry cleaners once that she hated so bad that when it came time for morning break she left and never went back.  She lasted about two and half hours.

I win. I quit a cannery job in Alaska in a 1/2 hour.... hands in freezing water, standing on concrete, 16 hr. days, 7 days a week. But the worst part was that they blasted Death Metal music. I looked down the line, everyone was 15 yrs. younger than me, I said "I've had shitty jobs before. This is too much like hell"

Wise decision. Hitch hiked up to beautiful Denali National Park....
