If you race an Open Wheel "A" Modified in the middle third of the country, USMTS has got to be the best deal out there even if you can't full-time it or run for points. As long as you can do 'some' traveling, it'll work.
You need a license to take full advantage of everything the series has going for it whether you run for points or not. You can find out more about that at www.USMTS.com but one thing I do know is they have 4 regional points series and The Hunt for the Casey's Cup. There will be around 70 ONE-night show points races between Feb 6th and Sep 18th at one of those little dots below. Most of them pay $2000 to win, around 20 or so will pay $3000 to win and even 3 races before March 2nd that will pay $4000 to win. NONE of them require a license to compete in and you still get those win amounts.
But buying a license not only gets you a little discount off the entry fee amounts when you enter early, but all the other finishing positions besides 1st place will pay you MORE money back if you have the license. Individually, each license costs $150 but you can buy a package that includes all 5 licenses right now from USMTS for $500. A savings of $250.
At events that you don't even make the A-main, as long as you have the license for the region you're running in, enter early (by one-week before the race) and run a B-main, the tow money & entry discount will net you $30 extra. After 17 no-luck runs like that, you've still made up that $500 and you still have 50 other races BUT YOU CAN MAKE UP THAT $500 IN AS LITTLE AS THREE USMTS RACES if you finish well in the A-mains.
