I doubt it. Seems to me is that their end-game goal is to make sure everyone in the world knows the product "LUCAS OIL", as they have sponsorship or ownership roles in the following avenues of auto racing and other sports curretly (and maybe more):
Sprint Cars (ASCS. ESS, Knoxville Raceway, USAC, Australia)
Late Models (Lucas Oil Late Model Series, MLRA, and various other regional series).
Drag Boats
Drag Racing in the NHRA and IHRA
Motorcross / Supercross / Arenacross
TORC Off road racing
Stock Car Racing (K&N Series and have dabbled in CUP, Nationwide and Truck Series)
Pro Football (Lucas Oil Stadium, home of the Indianapolis Colts)
Race Tracks such as Lucas Oil Speedway (they own it) and Knoxville Raceway (they are a MAJOR sponsor of the facility)
Their banners are also sometimes seen in the background at College Football games on TV.
I don't see them wanting to run anyone out of business, it's all about marketing and brand awareness....

Lucas has done little more than be title sponsor for ASCS. He hasn't helped the purse cut that happened a couple years ago. He hasn't even held a better paying ASCS race as his own track. I think Vande has it. Lucas wants the most exposure he can get. He helps all those series and tracks just enough to get his name in front of as many different folks as possible. Lucas Oil has a very good marketing strategy.

Lucas will buy out wrg for the sole fact of he can make all sprint & LM run under his Lucas Oil Banner. JMO. Hes got the money & we all know thats that makes this industry go round. Again JMO

This was my train of thought also. I kinda figured the MAV TV thing was just one more big piece of the puzzle to make it all work.

I agree with you 100%. Lucas does a great job of being involved with many things, but I don't think he is the large sugar daddy that some of you thing.
Obviously, he has some ventures that he does as a hobby. His race tracks and his drag teams. Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland is the standard for all other race tracks. I would not be suprised that he was putting a lot of money into that venture. I also assume that his drag teams are all big money pits. However, everything else is an investment for him to sell more product.
He did not get to where he is at now by being foolish with his money. He has enough things to stroke his ego that buying WRG does not make any sense.

It does make since. Half the best LM racers race a diff series than bis so if he buys wrg he has bigger shows. If he buys wrg he doesnt have to compete with stp, witch is a compettitor of his

Where in hell do these ideas come from 305s taking over the country, next Lucas taking over all sprint car racing, what next,
Lawlessness and liberalism equals Hell. NY City,
Detroit, Seattle, Chicago, Minnepolis, etc. We saw it.
Burning hundreds of buildings, a thousand assaults and
dozens of murders. Getting worser and worser.

The 305 thing I admit is a bit far fetched in my opinion but the Lucas thing is a business deal that in my mind ( feeble as it is) is plausible. Not guaranteed but definitely plausible. He has his foot firmly in the door in late models. Call me crazy but....

Don't count out the "305 thing" too soon.
I am lucky enough to work at one of the best tracks
anywhere.

I honestly hope 305 racing flourishes . They r going to try n have a few 305 races at our local track next year. Im stranded in late model country so I hope like hell they succeed! Take over the country though?

i am afraid he is loosing interest in sprint and midget racing, his events at wheatland have way more late model people, and like many have said, he wants the marketing, since opening the track at wheatland his second year they tried more sprint and midget races, not expanded on that, he has however expanded on the late model shows and his financial sponsers of those late models

Do you mean the LM events bring in more LM fans than the Sprint events bring in Sprint fans? To be fair, he hosts one of the bigger LM events (Show-Me 100) and it's been packed every year I've been to it. I've yet to get to a Sprint race there, but he has the Open Wheel Showdown which is only getting into it's 3rd year, and the Hockett-McMillen Memorial which is entering it's 4th year. He may be putting more into the LM side of it, but I don't think you can say he's losing interest or not expanding Sprint racing.

I made it to the hockett memorial. My first race there . Unbelievable facilities! I think they are concentrating on the late models first. Having the show me 100 gives them a marquee event to build around. I dont mean this in a bad way at all but They still only sponsor sprints at the 360 ASCS level and Knoxville of course. Give them a chance to step it up a notch im sure its coming. Wheatland has a big money late model show. You don't think they want to b on the map for a big money sprint show? They r working on becoming a " destination" track like Knoxville, Eldora, the grove.

And some posts have nothing to do with the original subject or add anything to a simple hypothetical question aimed to pass the time until race season starts again.
