Any details of a race on 3-1-1989.
Found an old picture frame and it has many different pictures some are: Joe Gaerte,Paul McMahan(I think), Cris Eash with the date of 3-1-89 on the back.
I just wanted to know what race these were from. Thanks for any help.

3/1/89......A logical guess would be Williams Grove Or lincoln Speedway as it is the second week of the start of Pa racing season. Kind of hard to tell when we don't have the photo's to look at.

There's a good possibility that these are from a WoO Event also. Gaerte and Eash were part of the circuit at that time.

The race took place at Kings Speedway in Hanford, CA, and was santioned by WoO. It was rained out after the B-main. Craig Keel set a new track record in qualifying.

Not sure if that would have been Paul 1989, he might of been in high school still.

Could be a VERY young Paul McMahan. Just because he was in High School don't mean he couldn't still race.

I never said he wasn’t old enough to race. Previous posts mentioned the photo might be a track back east. In 1989 Paul was still racing locally in California at Placerville, Chico, and NARC in family owned JB #25.

I haven't checked my archives yet but I must have video of that day because I didn't miss any Cali WoO shows from '88 to '06.

Thank you everyone for the quick responses.
Makes sense that it was at Hanford as that was our home track for many years.

Eash, lower right, got be Kaeding 2 pics left. Bobby Davis Jr. in the Luna 10, Jeff Swindell in the 7tw ?, Hillenburg in the black 2 in the middle. Yellow 10, Red 25 & the 1 on the top left are locals ?? Lee James running a local car ??
Seems to me anyways that Swindell ran the 7tw, Hodnett ran the 8tw & Gaerte ran the 9tw.

Don't believe the 7TW is Swindell, long before his days. Gaerte drove the 7TW before Swindell.

Just came back here to adjust it to Joe Gaerte. 1989 was the year of USA, and Kinser, Wolfgang, Sammy, etc. went for the money. Jeff Swindell was in the Payless Hardware and Rockery 11x for the Williams Brothers in 1989 and nearly won the championship if memory serves. - Ron

Winningham in the Alviso Rock 9n is a no-brainer and the Al Leist #88 had Donnie Evans, JT Hayes and it looks like Lee James for a time in the 88. It's definitely Oklahoma Andy, and BK in the 69. Darrell Hanestad in the 17 won the Gold Cup later this year. This would have been one of Paul McMahan's first years behind the wheel in a sprint car and Cris Eash is definitely the 17E...which leaves that damn 10 car. I got nothing.

Maybe the 10 car was Wild child, The dude or Bobby Davis. They all drove that car in that time frame.

I believe he is referring to the yellow 10. The Luna 10 is defanantly Bobby Davis JR., he won the title that year when all the big boys went with USA ( United Sprint Assosiation).

If all of these pictures were taken in 1989, and they do look like they were, the 10 would be Bobby Davis Jr because they won the WoO championship that year. I remember Julian Trevino, who was the track photog for years, telling me that they had to form human chain to get across the track from the infield after the rain.
