Compare the payoff between NASCAR and sprint car races and it isn't hard to understand why sprint car drivers jump to NASCAR. The average payoff for a 10th place finish in the first 10 NASCAR races this year was $149,000. Last place averaged $58,000 for the same races. If a driver was paid 40% of the cars winnings he would have averaged  $59,000 and $23,000 respectively for finishing in those positions in those races. Compare that to the $10,000 that WoO pays to the winner of a majority of their races. The 40% may or may not be reprensenative of what NASCAR driver are paid  but anyway you look at it a sprint car driver would make a hell of a lot more money in NASCAR.  I hate seeing the top sprint drivers jump ship to NASCAR too but their love of dirt track racing only goes so far when the opportunity to make a lot of money presents itself.

You can drive a real taxi cab and make more money than most sprint car drivers.

Napcar is all about the money from the drivers, owners, track owners and employees.  I believe that's why napcar has lost so much in recent years while other forms of racing has grown or maintained their fan base in a hard economy. I can respect a person who is doing what they love and not doing it for the money

I hate these conversations.   99.99% of everybody who is on this board would love to make a million dollars a year to come in last place in a NASCAR race.

And you don't respect a guy that is providing a better way of life for his family by racing every week with what he has and makes the most of whatever opportunities have been provided to him or her? Just asking.

The average Nascar team spends over $20million to compete.Nascar no matter how boring has coroporate backing and is televised and usually shown twice. The drivers are on billboards, have cutouts in gas stations and stores, and are promoting their sponsors at every chance. As much as I like sprint car racing it does not have the nationwide appeal and plays to a much   smaller audience. There is no question many sprint car drivers could do well in Nascar but the opportunitys except for a few just are not there. Most sprint car teams lose money but do it because they love the sport. Not very many drivers are just drivers as they usually have to work another job.Guys like Steve Kinser and Sammy are the exception as they have sponsors and guys like Tony that can get sponsors. The young talented sponser friendly guys like Larsen that love to race anything are few and will be snapped up by Nascar as the money is there.
