I'm smiling because after all these years, who garners the most posts even after the biggest race of the year?
Sammy still does, love him or hate him, still the topic of conversation

I'm very glad Sammy didn't feel sorry for himself and pout all the way home after being placed in the E. He stayed and put on a show for the fans. He earned some points in my book with that classy move.

Wolfgang went from the D to 5th place in the A one year. I think it was in the Peace #8D when he did that. I think Hodnett did it once too??

Hodnett came from the C to 5th in the A. It's a different ballgame now, so many cars are fast.

I believe Hodnett did it driving the 8tw one of the years they had 3 cars. 7tw, 8tw, and 9tw. Can't remember who the others were those years. Maybe Jeff Swindell and Joe Gearte. Anyway that was also the year Blaney won on a track that was follow the leader for the last 20 laps. Hodnett got to 5th in only about 12 laps. Had it not become a train he might have won.

Hey Rick - that is a joke. And on some level you gotta admit it's not only relevant it's also a pretty good one. I know I chuckled.

The year was 1990. He was in the orange 8 Ray and Jay Williams Payless Cashways car. The 8D Danny Peace deal only lasted a year, 1989 when Wolfgang won the Nationals. The Peace deal ended when his girlfriend got caught stealing money from HUD. After she got caught the money stopped and so did the team. Special thanks to tax payers Wolfgang had a hell of a year. LOL!!!!!!

You're an idiot. Sammy probably knows what a gallon of VP weighs compared to a gallon of Renegade, vs a gallon of anyone else's brand methanol. Sammy is the same guy that I saw spend half a day cutting spark plug wires to save a few GRAMS....and that was nearly 15 years ago. I can assure you he KNOWS what a gallon of fuel weighs, and has a pretty damned good knowledge of how much fuel load to carry. I'm sure he did NOT expect to go 10-15 caution laps in a 12 lap race without getting a fuel stop....nor did several others, but you and the other "Sammy bashers" don't seem to be on here berating them. In short, it's likely because, eventhough you may not be a Sammy 'fan', even YOU hold Sammy in a higher regard than his performance showed this weekend. And, for that, we - the Sammy Fan Nation - applaud you anyway.

I felt that if they had just one more caution in that C, Sammy would have picked up a transfer spot.
The B would have been a tall order to get through though. It is fun to watch guys run the alphabet.

Couldn't agree more! Sammy IS the best driver/mechanic and has more innovation than pretty much anyone else.
Love him or hate him, Sammy puts butts in the seats so you better enjoy him while he's still driving!
