I'm a HUGE Sammy fan, but if you are light at the scales, you only need to look in the mirror. There are quite a few other cars that made the distance and the others weighed OK. Sucks as was hoping he'd make it without trying the alphabet. Maybe if these spint car guys would run REAL sprint car tanks and not midet tanks.......

This has nothing to do with the size of Sammy's fuel cell.
It has everything to do with the fact that the race was way, way longer than advertised. Multiple teams, not just Sammy, ran out of fuel.
He obviously had lots of extra fuel and could have easily survived multiple cautions. Unforttunately, the race featured a ridiculous amount of cautions and track cleanup. Knoxville could have done something about it, but they chose not to.
Sammy, along with most other teams are doing everything they can to compete; after all, it's the Nationals.
Forget about the scales for a moment. Think about the teams that ran out of fuel, that didn't have the opportunity to scale their cars. Was it their fault that the race was twice the advertised distance?
What happens when the WoO have a race that goes into overtime? They stop and allow the teams to fill up. Knoxville should have done the same thing last night, but instead they were trying to expedite!

Do they have a certain number of laps that they will run prior to having a fuel stop?
I quite certain they do for the A feature but do they for heats and the rest of the features as well?
If they do, then the teams that ran out have NO ONE to blame except themselves for not putting enough fuel in.
If they don't, they probably need to look into doing so.
If Knoxville says that they're going to run 30, 35 or however many laps before having a fuel stop you better put in enough fuel to do so, even if its only a 10 lap heat race.

They were told at the drivers meeting, every night, to put in plenty of fuel, there weren't going to be fuel stops. That said, I know someone who was in that race. They put in 15 gallons and ran out. For years the "formula" was 1 gallon per lap to allow for yellows and then a bit more to be safe. No idea what Sammy had in but maybe the engines were using more than normal because the air wasn't terrible. Terrible air requires a leaner engine, good air, more fuel. Sammy may not be Mr. Personality but is one heck of a smart guy and a damn good racer. Any of us would be doing well to be half as good as he is.

Fact is the number of laps ran never exceeded the size of there fuel tanks and everyone makes mistakes!

Such nonsense... The race was twice the scheduled distance (due to an unreasonable amount of cautions). Multiple teams ran out of fuel. Knoxville should have allowed a fuel stop.
It's obvious that some of you T-Bags love to hate on Sammy, but in this case, Knoxville owns the fuel shortage.

LOL Sammy had to give himself the left rear wheel run after the checkers cause no one to blame but his own team. Still like his driving abilities but had to chuckle

Sammy will be back? When? Before the end of the season? If you want to wager that he will return to his #stillwinning ways before the end of this year I'm not a betting man but right now I would take that bet in a heartbeat. He may be back eventually I will give you that one but before the end of this year? Not a chance. You want names? I don't see yours but I will gladly post mine: Chris Lovett. From here moving forward in this thread I'm sure all of us Sammy "haters" will gladly post our names if that's it takes to make you whiners happy. I'm in California and was in downtown Chico last night. At one point I heard a strange noise faintly in the distance but I couldn't quite put my fingers on what it was but now I know what it was: The collective whining of all you WHINERS when you found out you hero was ONCE AGAIN light at the scales. You all know it's not the first. Anyone out there keep stats on stuff like this?

Chris Lovett from California, I think that just about said it all.
Matthew 7. Explain that one to me now.

I'm agnostic and sleep in on Sundays so you will have to do the 'splaining on that one. Assuming this is some kind of biblical reference.

Whats the scoop, heard he was light at the scales after he finished 3rd in the b main.

Saw a sprint car DQ once when as he was waiting to weigh car, the engine was way hot and he was blowing water out of the over flow.

I would love for you to say that to John McCoy and let him laugh in your face for such a ridiculous opinion. I can tell you exactly how Knoxville/McCoy feel about it. You have tanks capable of holding enough fuel to run about 30 green flag laps. Knoxville will run the equivalent green/caution laps before having a fuel stop, regardless of the posted length. If you want to gamble, gamble. But don't complain if you don't fill it up and you lose.
Other than that he would also tell you this issue isn't a fuel issue at all. If you're light, your light. Maybe you forget... Sammy crossed the line 3rd. Then his car didn't make minimum weight. It's not minimum weight with 10 oz of fuel. It's minimum weight period. So running out of gas wasn't Sammy's problem, having a car that was too light was his problem. And both were HIS fault.
