I've seen tweets today that said Bob Westphal has passed. Hopefully it's not true but I haven't been able to find any other info online anywhere. Can anyone clear the air? Thanks

I remember Hillenburg's stuff in the middle 90's hitting as strong as any. Christ's peace to the family.
Luna's Ford engine style that won 2 WoO titles and 3
Kings Royals before a weight rule against the best EVER
in their prime and now DOMINATES super dirt late model
racing is no longer allowed/wanted in a WoO sprint
car.... Was Luna a miracle worker?

Bob was a good one for sure. Wesmar engines have made a big impact on big races such as the Knoxville Nationals & helped put the ASCS on the map in my opinion. Their 360 program... how can you say enough about it? They STILL have the goods & there are just too many people building them IMO.
I asked Kelly last year about Gary Wright's struggles; he politely & respectfully mentioned that when a 10 year old Wesmar powerplant was plugged in for a night that the Texan ran up front at a race we were talking about. Zach Chappell & countless others ran older Wesmar motors with success.
Bob's Blue Max motors took Sammy to his Knoxville crown in '83. Raymond Beadle's Blue Max cars... Bob's handiwork. It seems like Kelly told me that Bob had worked for Ed Pink. Talk about a pedigree!
Godspeed to Bob & thank you for your countless contributions to a sport we all love. Have a beer with my Dad when you get there if you get a chance... he'd love to catch up with you & talk about the old days I'm sure.

Was fortunate enough to know Bob for a few years and he was always good to us! No matter where it was or what we were doing he was always helpful and generous. We will miss him. God Bless the family and employees.
