...with both Steve Kinser and Sammy Swindell?? Other than Steve's win at El Paso both drivers cant seem to even crack the top 10 on any given night let alone the top 15. Are they just not as aggressive as they used to be or is equipment failing them? I havent seen a WoO race yet this year but both seems to be struggling big time!

Steve hasn't been good at Knoxville the past few years now... so it's nothing new. It's new that his struggles have extended beyond Knoxville, however. His engine sounded like it was on 6 cylinders last Saturday in qualifying. If you run 17th (or 21st last Saturday) in qualifying with the Outlaw format, you're usually screwed... Steve was 40th. Sammy looked ok last Sat. He timed well enough that the heat race didn't really matter much. He was running around 5th in the A when he screwed up on the one restart and jumped the cushion in 1&2... dropped back to 10th or so. Victim of other people's crap then on the final double file restart. He was probably no better than a 4th place car in the feature had he not screwed up. I'm much more worried about Steve..

Some out West Coast are wondering if father time is also knocking on the door of BK as well. His KWS performances (especially qualifying) have been less than stellar so far. Sad when those you watch growing up are now talked about as also ran's.

Don't count them out yet. I am sure they will still make some noise in victory lane before the end of 2013. It would not surprise me if they won a big $ race once the month of money rolls around. Both Kinser and Swindell won some races last year and they will again this year. I know I will be taking advantage of as many races as I can to see 2 living legends wheel a sprintcar!! Enjoy seeing them now because that day will come when you will be saying....remember when.......

It started when neither made the A Main at last years's Nationals. Must be a sign.

This could be a huge mistake since it has been forever since I have posted, but can't help it now. Steve had mechanical issues from the time he hot lapped. It was a nut that came of the cam trigger and then it was a matter of re-timing the engine. It appeared they missed on timing and they were behind eight ball the rest of the night. With a format for 51 cars in the WoO, time bad, you're in trouble all night. Also keep in mind at Knoxville, with 51 cars, 47 of them are quality and can finish top ten any given night. As far as Sammy, crashed in "A". It happens. I don't think that father-time is an issue, I think the field is more even with drivers, teams and cars. Just my thoughts, Mike Roberts

Thanks for the insight on Kinser the chatter where I was sitting was much like the above ... had he 'lost a step' as they say in the NFL ?? Sammy appears to be black or white ... they hate him or love him in the stands.

" both drivers cant seem to even crack the top 10 on any given night let alone the top 15"

Sammy's already won this year, & last year he won more WoO races than anyone.

But yea, I worry about 'em. I'm 62 & not NEARLY what I once was...

61 here and will be 62 this fall and I concur, time does eventually catch up with everyone regardless of past accomplishments. Obviously as somebody around their same age who has been watching them for a long, long, time I want to see them both hang in there and be competitive. I think going forward us old guys should walk a little taller anytime Steve and Sammy win a race or have a good run. We might not be doing that for much longer, you never know.

Think about how bad Cody Darrah will be at that age. Yikes! He's a couple spots back of Sammy in the points and you are saying Sammy is sucking! If only some big name would come along and give Darrah a top tier ride. Hmmm

Steve and Sammy have probably lost a step, but it's a step few have ever had to begin with.

Steve hasn't been the same since Knoxville 2012 (keep in mind he was leading the points at the mid year mark last year).

Sammy has struggled more this year than the past few years. Not sure what the reason is, but he's not as fast, though he's much more competitive than Steve has been.

I agree Mojoe, not only has the equipment gotten better and more equal, the younger drivers out there are in good equipment and very capable of winning. Gone are the days of Steve and Sammy domination of the tracks. I might also add, there are not any more Karl Kinsers as well.

Yup. I said this back in 2010 and got lynched by everyone from over there, lol. Too funny...
