now that Gravel has said he plans on running the tour with the Outlaws and Pittman being back im excited and want to go to a race. THe problem is for some reason I-55 is the only track to host the Woo in 2013. With the spring race cancelled I only get to see them Saturday night at Nationals. What happened to all the Mo tracks? in 06 and 07 we were always traveling so catch a race. us36, Sedalia, Lake of the Ozarks, Granite City, and even Lucas Oil at 1 time. I know there are fans here. what gives?

It isn't cheap to get the travelers to your home track.

I don't where you are from in Missouri, but the Outlaw schedule lists a few you might be able to make. June 7-W. Burlington, IA, June 9-Greenwood, NE, July 5 & 6-Dodge City , KS, Also, May 3 USAC is at Cameron, MO, There are also a few ASCS, Sprint Invader, MOWA and IRA shows around the MidWest. Hope this helps you.

There's just not many weekly shows anymore, let alone 410's anywhere. Maybe that has something to do with it? The track at Savannah is long gone. 36 is just occasional shows. Ozarks is the same I believe. I'm not sure why Sedalia isn't a host this year, although I've heard it's pretty rough on equipment. Lakeside is just across the border in Kansas and they're always on the schedule. No idea why Wheatland hasn't had an event, unless it has something to do with the whole Lucas Oil-ASCS sponsorship.

Gotta agree with opnwhlr. The almighty dollar dictates everything. High sanction fees plus it's 360 country nowadays. Shame!

US36 has had great crowds for it's specail events and has had some horrible crowds for its special events. The last Outlaw show that I saw there was much less than SRO. For US36, I am sure it is high risk/reward event. You could make a lot or lose a lot.

Sedialia has definitely been on and off the scheduled several times over the last several years. It is obviously not a big money maker or a money loser because it can not get a promoter to stick. I went to the races there last year and I would guess that it was a money losing show. Also, since the accident in the pits last year, I have not heard of any plans to race there. Nor any plans to update the facility.

Lake of the Ozarks did not open it's doors last year. I have not heard anyone opening it back up this year.

Granite City seems to have moved more towards USAC and Late Models. The Gold Crown midget show is a must see.

Lucas Oil is probably the biggest question mark. Obviously they are deeply in bed with ASCS and POWRi. It would be great to see WOO and USAC at this track. This track also has the financial backing to take a couple of risks on thier schedules. However, when you look at their schedule for the entire year, it is already a full schedule.

Once again, if the promoters consistently made money booking these shows at these places, they would be doing it. For every home run, there is a strike out. Booking a WOO sprint car show is a mighty big commitment.

with all due respect there is a significant reason they have less venues imo, and again, just mo. last time i attended a woo race friday was 45 smackers. peeps do not want to pay the price...

Ascot was the greatest of all time..

I noticed that as well. Seems like they went to Sedalia for years. I sure wish they would come back to Granite City and have a two day show in Haubstadt! They use to have two different dates a year there.

I know it's not Mo but is only a few miles into Kansas. Check out Lakeside in K.C. Great show every time I've went.

I would think the issue at Lucas Oil now would be the STP sponsorship of the WoO Sprint Cars. I don't think either brand would like to promote "The STP World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series at Lucas Oil Raceway."

You are correct, prices can be high. But I think those $45 and $50 tickets are much more rare outside of California. Usually in Ohio the prices are around $30-35, although it's been a while since I've been to a WoO show here.

I think SLS promotions run most of the shows in the Midwest, they like not to saturate the market, so sometimes they go to a place once every 2-3 years even though they get good crowds.

For the shows here at Knoxville this year, the price listed is $30. Not a bad price for the show.

I agree!! Those 45-50 dollar tickets sure cuts into a racing budget for the summer.

From what i was told by a track promoter it cost $100,000 to get the WoO sprints to your track & WoO LM's $50,000 to your track

IF that is a true number which it could easily be, what is the problem? Figure an average crowd of 6,000 (this is probably closer to 8,000) plus an average ticket price of $20 between adults and children equals $120,000. Then you have the back gate, food and beverage sales. The only issue I see is a track with a smaller budget not being able to take the risk of the sanctioning fee and then getting rained out the day of. They must pay the sanctioning fee without a show and no for sure make up date. That would be a huge hit on a track that is already struggling.

Very very few tracks can pull anything close to 6000 in attendance. Most barely hold 5000. I would be interested in knowing WoO attendance avgs but my guess is closer to 4000. Then you have to question how many are promoter or owner freebies.

I think they had over 5,000 at Stockton but all the other places were lucky to draw 3,000.

5,000 at Stockton? They reportedly had nearly 14,000 between grandstands, standing room only and pit passes. The crowd was HUGE!
Cheers!

I asked a former promoter here in Ohio if it cost anything to get the outlaws to come to their track. The person stated at that time about 3 years ago that the WoO charged a sanctioning fee of 30k but I do not remember if he said that the track also had to provide the purse or not. If it does then that is an extra 50k that the track has to shell out as well not to mention the insurance that is required for each event for the track. Throw in the fact that SLS promotions usually is the one that controls the races in the Missouri area (and from heresay I have heard that they are very inconsistent with how they put on a program) it makes it hard for a track owner/promoter to justify paying that amount of money if they are already making a profit without the WoO visiting. If the track is losing money then they really cannot pay that amount of money and take the risk of not being able to cover the costs.
