Have you ever been to a Brand New Race Track opening?

Have you ever been to a Brand New Race Track opening?

Are there any new tracks in your area opening up this year?

Let me know if there is.

I have been to 100's of tracks across the USA and have never had the privilege of covering a race track on its very first night running. .

Bruce covered the Grand Opening of Timberline Speedway in Corley Texas. To see his coverage and follow him to the races, go to www.LuvRacin.com

Click on the Writers and Photographers button on the left hand side, and then select Bruce Koen…. Former Flag Man

Bruce shoots racing and people all over the southern states.

I'm fairly confident that they're not opening this season, but Central New York Raceway Park in Central Square, NY (about a half hour north of Syracuse) is set to open in the near future. The track is being spearheaded by Glenn Donnelly, the former owner of DIRT Motorsports. More info can be found here: http://centralnewyorkracewaypark.com/

We have a very old and historic track in the Orange Show Speedway in San Bernadino California opening up under new management and it will open as a Dirt track. It has been a paved track for many years. The 1st sprint car race will be on the 27th of this month. And we are very excited about having another local dirt track to have for our choice of racing.
We need more sprint car racing at our home track.

I can think of 2 openings; both WoO. If either track ran a local show prior to the race I'm not aware of it for sure. Lone Star Motor Speedway, Kilgore, TX, 1984. Memorable for strong field of cars, crazy fast track, very high banked and OH YEAH the lights went out before the feature. Had to be rescheduled 'til return trip in the summer. 2nd opening was Memphis Motorsports Park. Cool 1/2 mile but TERRIBLE design for the stands... way too flat. If someone stood up down low eventually the whole place had to stand up because no one could see over the person sitting in front of them. Terrible sight lines... which was a real shame for a nice facility. Was it 3 different dirt track configurations on the property? The drag strip was being built when we arrived for the first race & it was far from ready... we thought we drove all the way from Dallas & the track wasn't complete. LOL talk about a DOH moment! Thank goodness the actual dirt track was across the street.
