A normal full field for a WoO A main is 24 cars. If there is an event where 25 cars time in, there would obviously be no B main or LCQ race. Would that 25th car be allowed to run the A? How about if 26 cars time in? Forgive me if this question has already been asked and answered on this forum. Thanks!

There WOULD be a last chance showdown with 25 cars signed in (unless one scratched before the LCS). It would have 7 cars and transfer the top 6 to the A-main, with the top 4 getting their time back for line-up purposes (behind the dash cars, of course), and the 5th and 6th place finishers starting 23rd and 24th in the A.
This policy changed last year--here's the reasoning: assume we're late in the season and we have a tight points battle. We have 25 cars signed in, and allow all of them to start the A-main. The slowest car, in the process of getting lapped, takes out one of the drivers involved in the point battle, costing the driver a championship. It doesn't seem right that a driver who normally qualify for the A-main costs a driver a championship.

Johnny, I can think of a few more "what if's" to ask about, but here's a pretty simple one. Say this late season show is at a track that has a weekly program or some other way to qualify for track provisionals. That means all 25 guys will start the A because the 7th place finisher is going to get the provisional. Would the LCS get cut in that case, or would it still be run for the lineup procedures you stated?

I am not speaking for Johnny, but I would say the LCS would still be run for lineup purposes with the 7th place finisher starting 25th as a provisional.

Yes--the LCS would still be run for line-up purposes. And your scenario assumes that all non-WoO cars at the event would have provisionals available. Even if that were the case, we'd still run the LCS to determine WHICH local car would use the provisional. (There's also the possibility that the non-qualifying local car has used 2 provisionals earlier in the year, and wouldn't have any available.)
