You sure talk a lot of shit for someone who doesn't even have the balls to show up at Chico.

For starters every time chico has a race you guys always cry the surface sucked so why even bother making the trip. Secondly its chico if im going to spend any money to go see a race in the communist state of California it will be Ventura. Thirdly those who think Chico is all that really need to travel more to the midwest and see what a real race track is.

I don't aim to please.
I aim to hit the target.

Vettel is shattering every "youngest" record there is in F1 all at the ripe old age of 25. Like I said, I don't care for him, I'm an Alonso fan, but there IS racing outside of Sprint Cars and NAPCAR. I'm one of the biggest Kyle Larson "believers" out there, and I truly believe he will be a great one. But to be in the same league with Sebastian Vettel, he will need to score a runner up and 3 Sprint Cup Championships by the time he is 25 years old.

People have their particular "form" of racing as their favorite. Many are strong fans and like to voice their opinions. I think any series champion should be commended...even if it is F1. Personally, I find it more boring than a Danica interview but there are people on this forum who enjoy that type of racing Let us at least agree that to win a championship, in any series, takes a lot of talent. And no, I don't want to see Kyle..or Jeffy-Poo...or any other current or former dirt racer go race those foreign machines. I want to keep them home in a series I can watch..and enjoy...even if it is the last ten laps of NASCAR races! Wink

I like watching the occasional F1 "race". I do believe you give way too much credit to the driver where in reality that series is more about the car. Those are all pretty damned talented drivers but with F1 its about the technology more than anything else in my opinion. If they miss the setup even slightly they're virtually done. The last driver I actually rooted for and gave a shit about in F1 was Senna. He drove as if you put a sprint car driver in one of those million dollar slot cars! Still though the racing quality has never rivaled dirt track racing for me.

The raw ferocity/bravado/daring and skill involved in open wheel dirt track racing is second to none. You cant be a pussy and win a sprint car main event at the top level of competition, you have to be tough, smart and good. I think the voters got this wrong but I would bet the majority of them don't even know who Kyle Larson is let alone actually seen him dominate the veterans of our sport such as he did at Gold Cup this past year.

Cheers!

Shows how little you actually know. Ventura has had the crappiest surface the past couple years, I mean terrible! Chico has the old style clay/configuration back and it showed at the Gold Cup. You certainly don't know much kid.

Cheers!

I respectfully disagree. I love Sprints and Midgets first and foremost, with F1 a VERY close 2nd. People in America don't enjoy F1, because they don't understand F1 and F1 is no different than any other type of motorsport. The best car/driver combination wins championships. Sure, others will win races throughout the season, but in F1, WoO, USAC, NASCAR, NHRA ect, it is the best car/driver that will win the championship EVERY time. And the people who claim that F1 is boring, it tells me that they haven't been paying attention to the evolution of F1 over the past 7 years. While nearly every other type of racing has been stagnant with their rules and racing, F1 has been proactive to make the racing better and it is one of the last holdouts where each team builds their cars from scratch and where innovation lives. The championships the past three seasons have come down to the last race of the year. 2 years ago, it came down to the last lap....And passing? There again, watch a whole race. There is passing all over the place now and no, not in the pits. And if you want to see "raw/bravado/daring and skill, watch a Spa race in the wet sometime...I doubt I will convince anyone here to change their opinion with this post, but I feel I need to set the record straight and in closing, I feel that Kyle Larson would make a great F1 driver if he took the right route to get there, but it is hard, hard work just to get in the position to to get a ride. But alas NASCAR is too alluring to the young Americans for the quick dollar.

his name is Will, and instead of being banned from larson's races he should be made to attend them all and have everyone in attendance aware of it.

Now that's funny . He would get thrashed lol.
We need more sprint car racing at our home track.

Can't be displaying stats from the last 3 years to resolve this. It was called the 2012 Performer of the year award, not the 2010-2012 award. Kyle Larson was the better performer in 2012, no ifs, ands or buts.

do it in the dirt

Sure the best car/driver combo wins the championships in all forms of motorsports, but in F1 it's 80% car and 20% driver where in dirt track open wheel racing it's much closer to 50/50. I don't watch racing to see who has the best set of engineers. (I do watch F1 practice and qualifying, but usually DVR the race and watch at 2x or 4x speed)

Sure there is more passing in F1 in the last 3 years....but it comes from giving the trailing car a huge speed advantage on the long straights. Very true that rain soaked race courses makes for better F1 racing, but that is because it puts more emphasis on the driver's butt and less on the engineers pencil.

As far as Larson in F1.....it would be a waste of his talents. He is a wheelman, not a robot.

Bernie has done a good job of marketing Formula 1 and letting the sheep of the world believe that their drivers are the best...hence Vettel wins this award. Truth is that F1 drivers are the best at one thing.....driving high downforce single seater openwheel cars on prescription asphalt Hermann Tilke designed parking lots....hardly the same F1 that Mario flourished in after honing his skills at Eldora and Terra Haute.

I just wonder,,,,,,

How many different competitors each of the finalists actaully raced against. Most of them raced against the same number of racers at each event.

More to the point, you don't have the balls to show your face at Chico.

For all the smack you talk your last response showed what a whining little pussy you really are.

Sorry i don't follow F1 it's boring. Vettel has 26 career wins, Larson has won 58 in the last two,30 in 2012 Maybe your time would be better sent on a F1 forum!

According to a story I read, Kyle Larson started or ran 125 races in 2012, winning 29, for a 23.2 win percentage. How can you even compare how many he won, against someone who raced only 101 in his career? That is just lunacy. Vettel has won 26 races out of 101. 25.7% isn't to shabby.....Just sayin'

Really, comparing all these different forms of racing is "apples & oranges". I think it all comes down to what you like. I like the stuff Kyle races, don't follow F1 at all, in fact never even heard of this guy....

There' a difference between winning 26 races out of 101 driving one type of car and winning 29 in 15to20 different cars that Larson drove last year.In 2012 Larson clearly out preformed the other drivers for the award.

I just think it is ridiculous to compare, as someone above has said. Like I wrote, I was "Just sayin" Besides, if Larson's folks wouldn't have bought him all of those rides, where would he be? 'insert laugh track here' It's a joke, folks, don't get your undies in a bunch...lol
