PERRIS AUTO SPEEDWAY ANNOUNCES "THE PAS 360 YOUNG GUNS SPRINT CAR DIVISION!"

(Perris, CA, January 15, 2013) Don Kazarian, the promoter at "Southern California's Home to Major League Sprint Car Racing," Perris Auto Speedway, has announced a brand new sprint car division tailored towards grooming young drivers for a career in racing. The new division will
be comprised of drivers from 14-21 years of age in cars powered by cast iron block 360 engines. The series will be named, "The PAS 360 Young Gun Sprint Car Division." The new class will have six races beginning on April 6th and culminating on September 14th.

"Bill Perkins of The Sprint Car Driving Experience approached me about it a couple of months ago," Kazarian said. "I went to the insurance company and they just approved it. The insurance company is satisfied that we can judge talent before allowing them on the track to compete."

In addition to grooming drivers to move into the USAC/CRA Series in the future, it will also allow drivers to gain confidence racing against other drivers of the same ability.

"This will allow young drivers to build their confidence up rather than feeding them to the lions," Kazarian said. "Over the years we have had some young drivers come out, race a few times and disappear never to be heard from again because they were intimidated and not ready to compete with stars of USAC/CRA. This will give them seat time at a more comfortable level. By the time they are ready graduate to the USAC/CRA Series, they will be a lot more relaxed and confident."

All of the new divisions races will share the bill with the Amsoil
USAC/CRA Sprint Cars and the PAS Senior Sprints. The California Lightning Sprint Car Series will also be competing at four of those shows.

Details of the new series are listed below:

Drivers ages from 14 - 21 years old with the following requirements;

14 and 15 year olds must submit a Racing Résumé detailing their racing experience to the Perris Auto Speedway for their review and approval. Upon initial approval those applicants must then demonstrate their ability on the racetrack during a four hour Tune and Test Practice session in front of the Speedway Management and Race Officials. The cost of the Tune and Test Practice is $500. If the Speedway Management approves an applicant, their
name and experience will be submitted to the Speedway's Insurance Company for their final approval. Should at any time, an applicant is deemed not ready for competition, that applicant cannot submit an
application until the following race season. All decisions from the Speedway
and Insurance Company will be final. There is no appeal process.

· 16 - 21 year olds with NO Sprint Car experience must
submit a Racing Résumé detailing their racing experience to the Perris Auto
Speedway Management for their approval. All decisions by the Speedway will be final. There is no appeal process.

· Should anyone be approved for competition no matter what their age and prove not to be race ready anytime during the season, the Speedway Management can have the option to revoke their ability to continue racing for the remainder of the season.

· This is a Non Sanctioned Class – The only rule is the engine must be 360 cubic inches cast iron block, fuel injected or normally aspirated. No gaskets, restrictors needed. No weight rule. No Tire Rule. All
normal safety rules apply and a Hans Devise is mandatory.

· All cars will Pill Draw for starting positions in their Heat Race.

· Heat Races will be 6 laps.

· Main Event will be 12 Laps. Starting positions will be a blind draw by the winner of the first heat race. The inversion will be from 0 to 8 positions.

· This is a "TROPHY ONLY" Division! The top three
will be awarded Trophies. Pit Passes are $50.00.

· Championship Points will be accumulated over the year and an Overall "Perris Auto Speedway Young Gun Sprint Car Champion" will receive a Championship Award!

· Event Dates are as follows; April 6th, May 4th, May 25th, July 4th, August 17th and September 14th.

Congratulations to Don and the staff. This should be a great feeder program for USAC/CRA.

The $500.00 test and tune fee mentioned above can be split among multiple drivers.

I know for sure Trent Williams. He has been driving speedway sprints at Victorville. His dad is Ron Williams/Victory Race Cars. He will be driving the Rich Howell Racing/Victory Race Cars sprinter. Very smooth driver.

It appears to me this has the potential to be a very popular class, however, I do see a potential hurdle. Being it is a "trophy only" class, it would seem to me most of the racers would be borrowing/renting cars. I can't see anybody actually purchasing a 360 car, even with aspirations of going VRA or USAC to merely try their hand at sprint car racing. Therefore, any suggestions on people who may have a rental program? Perkins? Kruseman? I have a talented dwarf car driver, female, 17, who has logged plenty of seat time in karts, dwarf cars, pony stocks and has even attended Perkins' and Kruseman's schools. I am a big advocate of females in open wheel dirt racing, as I think it expands the fan base. My daughter was inundated with young female race fans every time at the track. Girls at the tracks brings boys to the track!

I think the rental program would be great for a class like this.. I have run the Perkins' cars a few times. These guys are very accommodating and great to work with when fitting the car to suit your driver. Good folks and fun to go racing with..

OUTSTANDING ,,,,,,,, This new division is going to grow so fast,,,, this has been needed for so long,,,,,This reminds me of the TQ division that USAC had back in the 80s when the USAC midgets were strong,,, a lot of great talent came out of the TQs ,,,,,that went into the Midgets that are now our top dogs in the USAC/CRA 410 sprint cars,,, There is so much young talent out there trying to fine tune there skills at driving a sprint car,,,,, this is going to open the opportunity for all these kids,,,,[ YOUNG ADULTS ] to move up and become our future top dogs in the 410 sprint cars ,,,,,, we need to as sprint car fans ,,,, support this division ,,,,,, these kids are our future ,,,,,,,,,, DON KAZARIAN I would like to thank you for starting up this young guns division,,,,,, this is a good investment for the future for the PAS,,,, and the 410 sprint cars,,,, again thank you,,,,,,,, John Jensen

Perhaps the Gaunt brothers will strap into a sprint car again. Logan Williams is pretty quick on the track also and then their is always the possibility that the T-shirt makers son might join the fray. We may be looking at a future main event down the road. I think that "Fireball" Johnny McCall might be in this group also.
