Sixth Annual Race 4 Life / Inaugural Donnie Ray Crawford Memorial
Port City Raceway / Tulsa, Oklahoma
Thursday, August 30 / Night One

A Race4Life / Port City Raceway Special Release

Cody Morris, Tulsa, Oklahoma (08-30-2012) - Born in salute to their friend and hero, fans and competitors gathered to honor and celebrate the Sixth Annual Race 4 Life and inaugural running of the Donnie Ray Crawford Memorial at the delightful confines of Port City Raceway.

With the eyes of the entire sport firmly fixed on Tulsa’s golden little gem and the spirit of the Race 4 Life on hand, 102 competitors battled to make history in the first of three nights of action at the Inaugural Donnie Ray Crawford Memorial.

Following thirty heat races and three B Feature events to form the order of the first feature events of the Inaugural Donnie Ray Crawford Memorial, five drivers walked away with prestigious and history making victories, as well as the inside track of enhancing that history in Saturday’s main events.

OUTLAW

Outlaw A Feature (25 laps):
1. 8 Chris Andrews (1); 2. 20 Josh Pickle (2); 3. 10 Zach Alley (8); 4. 92x Jake Rosario (3); 5. 17x Jonathan Beason (7); 6. 08 Jarrett Crouch (14); 7. 12s Drew Salisbury (6); 8. 27 Tucker Klaasmeyer (5); 9. 17E Blake Edwards (9); 10. 51 Matt Ward (11); 11. 52 Blake Hahn (4); 12. 96 Randy Crowder (10); 13. 18 Justin Fletcher (15); 14. 23 Hannah Adair (13); 15. 22T Frank Taft (12)
Lap Leaders: Chris Andrews 1-25
Hard Charger: Jarrett Crouch +8

A veteran of multiple Port City titles, Tulsa’s Chris Andrews earned the pole position for the featured 25 lap main event with Catoosa, Oklahoma’s Josh Pickle alongside. Andrews developed a sizeable lead before the first and only caution flew as Sapulpa, Oklahoma’s three-time Tulsa Shootout winner Blake Hahn looped the Speedway Vending no. 52 while running third.

The slowdown brought opportunity for Pickle and 2010 PCR Outlaw champion Jake Rosario, but Andrews was quickly out to a decisive command once again, reaching lapped traffic by the 15th round.

It proved of little consequence as Andrews crossed the finish line with large margin aboard the Bob Hurley Ford, Advanced Shocks, Metric Cycles, Lightning Wings, Scorptec Injections, Aerodynamic Racing Wheels, and KBS Graphics sponsored no. 8.

While unable to mount challenge for the mount, Pickle went himself unchallenged in claiming the runner up spot with Claremore, Oklahoma’s Zach Alley making a late move by Rosario for the show position. Rosario and Jonathon Beason completed the top five finishing order with Jarrett Crouch, Lone Star native Drew Salisbury, and Show Me State rep Tuckey Klaasmeyer taking the final lock in positions to Saturday’s 55 lap Outlaw main event. Andrews and Pickle took heat race wins before repeating the feat in the second set of qualifiers.

NON WING

Non Wing A Feature (25 laps): 1. 5c Cody Cordell (1); 2. 77 Chris Andrews (4); 3. 32 Trey Marcham (5); 4. 81 Frank Flud (3); 5. 20R Kyle Harris (7); 6. 17E Blake Edwards (13); 7. 17w Harli White (9); 8. 75 Ryan Truitt (10); 9. 11 Harlan Hulsey (12); 10. 29 Ryan Ratliff (16); 11. 7x Cord Dodson (6); 12. 92 Jordan Herrman (2); 13. 10 David Baker Jr. (15); 14. 71x Kyle Fellers (11); 15. 82c Christian Kinnison (10); 16. 93 Trey Lambert (8)
Lap Leaders: Cody Cordell 1-25
Hard Charger: Blake Edwards +7

Non Wing B Feature (15 laps - top 4 transfer to A Feature): 1. 17E Blake Edwards (1); 2. 11 Harlan Hulsey (6); 3. 10 David Baker Jr. (3); 4. 29 Ryan Ratliff (8); 5. 20s Steven Curbow (2); 6. 25 Jason Tracy (7); 7. 11J Garrett Jennings (4); 8. 91 Kevin Bayer (5); DNS: Kelly Mahaffey, Trenton Borchers

Tulsa’s Cody Cordell earned the pole position starting spot in the 25 lap Non Wing main event with Jay, Oklahoma’s Jordan Herrman alongside. Cordell earned the early lead with Chris Andrews moving up from the second row to apply immediate pressure for the point as well. Perhaps the most decorated Port City veteran in the field, Andrews was repeatedly denied as he maneuvered both high and low to find the path into the point. Herrman made it a consistent three way battle until bringing out the only caution of the race in a failed attempt with lapped traffic on the 18th round.

With lapped traffic eliminated from the equation, Andrews took to the high side and brought his familiar yellow 77 alongside on several occasions, but in an excellent display of defiance under severe pressure, Cordell stood his ground to take the wire to wire victory aboard the Single Spur Ranch, Scott’s Lawn Supply, Metric Cycles, BT Machine, Foster’s Paint & Body, and BG Graphics no. 5c Sawyer.

Andrews settled for runner up rights with Oklahoma City’s Trey Marcham making a late move into the show position spot. Frank Flud and Kyle Harris completed the top five finishing order with Blake Edwards, Harli White, and Ryan Truitt filling out the eight entries locked into Saturday’s Race 4 Life / Donnie Ray Crawford Memorial Non Wing stock 600 main event.

Harli White, Frank Flud, and Steven Curbow took heat race wins over the 22 car Non Wing field, with Trey Marcham, Kyle Harris, and Cody Cordell taking honors in the second set of qualifiers. Blake Edwards took the winning style transfer out of the event’s lone 15 lap Non Wing B Feature before posting a Hard Charger performance in the main event.

“A” CLASS

“A” Class A Feature (25 laps): 1. 32 Trey Marcham (3); 2. 92x Jake Rosario (2); 3. 81 Frank Flud (6); 4. 20 Colton Wisely (5); 5. 21 Ty Hulsey (8); 6. 52 Raymond Moore (16); 7. 5 Kris Carroll (9); 8. 83 Shane Weeks (10) 9. 28x Chris Wilson (14); 10. 25 Jason Tracy (1); 11. 82c Christian Kinnison (11); 12. 34 Joey Baker (15); 13. 93 Trey Lambert (12); 14. 15 Jeff Frey (13); 15. 28 Karley Kay Dobson (4); 16. 13B Brittany Yarwood (7)
Lap Leaders: Jason Tracy 1-6, Jake Rosario 7-22, Trey Marcham 23-25
Hard Charger: Raymond Moore +10

“A” Class B Feature (15 laps - top 4 transfer to A Feature): 1. 15 Jeff Frey (1); 2. 28x Chris Wilson (2); 3. 34 Joey Baker (3); 4. 52 Raymond Moore (7); 5. 51B Bailey Felkins (8); 6. 31c Jason Collins (10); 7. 54 Will Scribner (6); 8. 88 Brett Adams (4); 9. 05c Eric Cantrell (13); 10. 05m Jamie McDonald (9); 11. 22 Peyton Williams (5); 12. 28b Brad Campbell (11); 13. 9c Cade Cowles (12); DNS: Trenton Borchers

Broken Arrow, Oklahoma’s Jason Tracy earned the pole position for the 25 lap “A” Class main event with Guthrie, Oklahoma’s Jake Rosario alongside. Tracy settled into an early lead despite the yellow flying on each of the first two laps.

Oklahoma City’s Trey Marcham made it a three way fight for the point by the sixth circuit, only for Rosario to find the groove the suited the colorful no. 92 the most a lap later and slip by both for the lead.

Rosario was unphased as the leaders reached lapped traffic at the halfway point of the 25 lapper, but the yellow would nix the high speed blitz on the 18th lap as Tracy collided with a lapped car while running third. The slowdown provided the opportunity Marcham had been prodding for.

Marcham quickly turned up the pressure on Rosario coming out of the restart, with the pair side by side in classic Port City fashion for several circuits. Marcham’s momentum on the high side proved the difference as he battled past with three rounds remaining to take the hard earned victory aboard the RD Marcham Energy, Simpson, Le Norman Operating, A&A Cycle, and Pinnacle Energy sponsored no. 32

Rosario accepted an honorable runner up finish with Frank Flud completing the opening night “A” Class podium. Colton Wiseley and Ty Hulsey completed the top five finishing order with Raymond Moore moving ten spots to sixth. Kris Carroll and Shane Weeks took the final pair of the eight lock in positions to Saturday’s Race 4 Life / Inaugural Donnie Ray Crawford Memorial winged stock 600 main event.

Jason Tracy, Brittany Yarwood, Jake Rosario, and Christian Kinnison took the opening round of heat races over the 26 car field, with Tracy and Rosario completing heat race sweeps with wins in their qualifiers. Marcham and Flud also gained victories in the second set of heat races. Jeff Frey took the winning style transfer in the 15 lap “A” Class B Feature.

RESTRICTED

Restricted A Feature (25 laps): 1. 73 Jason McDougal (3); 2. 2 Mickey Walker (2); 3. 00 Grady Chandler (7); 4. 7T Tristan Oakes (1); 5. 11 Blake Hulland (5); 6. 15 Jase Randolph (6); 7. 17 Hunter Fischer (11); 8. 777 Bailey Hughes (8); 9. 11B Kaylee Bryson (4); 10. 41 Kaitlyn Martin (10); 11. 21 Brendon Wisely (12); 12. 97B Bailey Stringer (9); 13. 01 Garrett Olson (13)
Lap Leaders: Tristan Oakes 1-6, Jason McDougal 7-25
Hard Charger: Grady Chandler, Hunter Fischer +4

Sand Springs, Oklahoma’s Tristan Oakes earned the pole position starting spot for the 25 lap Restricted main event with Sapulpa, Oklahoma’s Mickey Walker alongside. Oakes settled into an early lead despite a lap four stoppage bunching the field up once more.

Seemingly a victor in each big event he has taken part of in the 2012 campaign, Broken Arrow’s Jason McDougal moved up to challenge the lead duo and completed an ultra slick move by the pair and snag his own lead on the seventh round.

McDougal pulled far away from the field, ultimately taking the victory by nearly half a lap aboard the Factor One Racing no. 73.

Walker settled for runner up honors with Piedmont, Oklahoma’s Grady Chandler completing a late move by Oakes to achieve the final podium spot. Oakes and Blake Hulland completed the top five finishing order with Jase Randolph, Hunter Fischer, and Bailey Hughes taking the final lock in positions to Saturday’s Race 4 Life / Inaugural Donnie Ray Crawford Memorial Restricted 600 main event.

Bailey Stringer and Bailey Hughes took wins in the first round of Restricted heat races, with Jason McDougal and Kaylee Bryson taking honors in the second set of qualifiers.

Kellyville, Oklahoma’s Dave Nicholson earned the pole position starting spot with Owasso’s Randy Myers alongside in the 25 lap Sportsman main event. Cautions mired the opening leg of the contest, but Myers took immediate control and went the distance virtually unchallenged aboard the Liquid Designz, Skips Motors, Meeks Group, and Up Front Racing sponsored no. 6.

Nicholson drew within striking distance in the final rounds, but ultimately settled for runner up honors with Coweta, Oklahoma’s Matt Taylor moving up a couple of spots to complete the podium. Jeremy Wickham and John Stowe completed the top five finishing order.

Craig Carroll, Matt Taylor, Dave Nicholson, and Jeremy Bowers took victories in the opening set of heats, with John Stowe, Ken Simmons, Jeremy Wickham, and Cody Cole taking qualifier honors over the 25 car field.

The Sportsman class was the sole division to qualify in full on Thursday for Saturday’s Race 4 Life / Inaugural Donnie Ray Crawford Memorial finale. The Junior Sprints will qualify in full on Friday, with the remaining half of the Outlaw, Non Wing, “A” Class, and Restricted fields completing their split-style qualifying program. The top 8 finishers in Friday's preliminary A feature events will lock into the outside 8 rows of Saturday's Race 4 Life / Inaugural Donnie Ray Crawford main events.

The Sixth Annual Race 4 Life / Inaugural Donnie Ray Crawford Memorial resumes Friday, August 31st with the second and final night of qualifying before Saturday’s highly anticipated day-long finale.
