Just heard that legendary sprint car driver, Jack McCorkell, passed away this last Sunday. Jack was a hero of mine growing up, watching him race sprint cars at Jackson Raceway in the 70's and 80's. He always seemed to be a winner no matter his starting position. Jack had 2 Jackson National Championships and many wins at other tracks across the US. He will always be remembered in the yellow and black 98A, driving for L L Woodke. My deepest sympathy goes out to Jon and his family...he will be missed.

He was absolutely one of the most exciting drivers to watch at tracks like Jackson and Hartford (when it was a 1/2 mile), and certainly a fan favorite wherever he went. He drove clean and hard. Thanks for the memories Jack, you will not be forgotten.

May the family find peace at this difficult time.

I always enjoyed watching Jack... my memories of him go back to the early 70s when I remember him racing at Fairmont and Redwood Falls in a late model and then into sprints at North Starr, Jackson and Knoxville.

A class guy who always seemed to have a smile for the fans.

We race fans never forget...

R.I.P. Jack. You will always be remembered here. Raced with Jack at Jackson and Husets. Heck of a nice guy and always knew the answer to my question. He will be missed by everybody. He sure brings back the memories when the VFW ran the track. Thanks for the memories!!!
