That's a cool pic of the Tornado. I know Joe Orth and he takes some great pics. I think that one was taken at the now defunct Midwest Speedway in Lincoln, NE. I live about two minutes from that location now. There's a Wal-Mart where that track once was. Talk about depressing.

I remember that Chili Bowl run by Sammy. That was a cool looking car as well. Nice work all around on the photos.

I wish I would have had my camera with me when I was Harcourt, IA doing fiber work. Rollie Gustafson had 2 old chassis in his machine shed, and 4 more wingless sprints in another shed covered up. I about had a hard one, looking at them old cars!!

I believe one of these cars are the same car pictured above in SJ Fast's post. This is Reichert and Daniels in Florida Nationals race (I think)....

The car in SJ's post was the #62 on the left. Here's the #63 car in it's later incarnation as the Wilke's #87. This photo was taken in 1969 on the way up to Winnipeg. I was in the Navy and requested a photo of the car to show my buddies and this is the one my cousin Tom Wilke sent me.
Jerry Richert Jr. has gone with a "retro" graphics scheme on his Sprint Cars this season. The #62 as pictured is his 360 car that he'll be running in ASCS and open shows. This photo was taken at Kopellah Speedway in April.
He'll be running a 410 in local IRA and Outlaw races with the team number #63. I loved that #63 car, it was my all time favorite Sprint Car so when I saw his car the first time this season it damn near brought tears to my eyes. An interesting side note, Scratch Daniels is going to be inducted into the Sprint Car Hall of Fame this year. Scratch was one of our local Supermodified drivers from the early 60's who went on to drive Sprints.

I have been lucky enough to visit the Zink Museum (Thanks Seifert).
They are two different cars. The car that Jackie drove had the old springer front suspension and the traditional torsion bar rear. The car pictured here is the car that Emmett drove to 100 feature wins (many of which I saw). The biggest difference in the two besides the springer chassis is the rear torsion setup in Emmett's car. The rear torsion bars in the car pictured above ran fore and aft along the main frame rails, something I have never seen before. Also, the car pictured above was raced at the old "Big Track" in Tulsa, whereas the 1300 car was raced at the "old, old 3/8" track that is now the parking lot at the fairgrounds.

That is a classic shot of the old Suchey's car out of OKC. That car was one of the toughest around in it's day! I saw it run 100's of times.
