Hello folks! This is my first post here, and I must say, I love seeing the 'old' pictures.
I wish I had a dollar for every time I sat in a sprinter as a kid. The first time I wasn't even 6 months old..LOL Almost 35 years later, I still love sprint cars..midgets are OK, champ dirt cars are pretty, but a non-wing sprint car is the ultimate!
Anybody have any Doc Dawson, Buck Boughan, or Fred Linder pics?

Great pics!
My favorite "old old old timer" has always been Barney Oldfield and his famous #999. I always thought Eddie Rickenbacker was fascinating as well.

OMG.......the memories some of these pics bring back....i had to get my youngest son in here and tell him a few of the stories that i had forgotten myself....he's 18 now....even the oldest son is too young to remember these stories(he's 26)....of course the older i get, the worse the old noggin works....lol....raced since 68....just want to say thanks to ALL the ppl that posted pics on here....these old cars are AWESOME....life's short,play hard.

Doc18: THANK YOU!
Doc was my favorite! As a 'tyke', I had a light blue T-shirt with a dark blue 18 on the front, circled by silver stars. I HAD to wear that shirt every time we went to Limaland or Eldora. Doc always said I was his biggest fan...LOL
I was only 4 when he was killed. I still remember dad setting me down on the table and telling me Doc had died racing....and I also remember crying.....
Mom and dad have a couple of -really nice- 8"x10" pictures of Doc...I need to get them scanned, and post them.
The last picture of Doc that you posted... was that taken at Limaland?
BTW, Sheldon was always fast in that roadster!!

You're quite welcome. That last picture I posted was of Dad hotlapping the "Rebel" (Boughan) sprinter at Limaland. If you remember, he drove it for Buck & Bob for a short while.
If you wouldn't mind, I'd really like to see those pics your parents have, and possibly get a copy of them. Also, keep your eye out for an article written by Mike Garrepy about Doc in an upcoming edition of FlatOut magazine. He's been working on it for close to a year, and has interviewed numerous people, including drivers such as Hewitt, Ferkel and Wolfgang. That's where I got the quote from, as Mike sent me part of his interview.
