3rd Annual Ver Hoef Automotive Sprint Car Showdown - July 18

Night 1 of JSTS Speedweek at Sioux Speedway in Sioux Center, Iowa

July 18 will mark the second event of the Sioux County Youth Fair with the 3rd Annual Ver Hoef Automotive Sprint Car Showdown. This event will be highlighted as the first event of the 2012 JSTS Speedweek tour for Winged 360 Sprint Cars. This will mark the third time these lightweight, high-horsepower machines will battle on the half-mile Sioux Speedway, this time for $2000 to win and $300 to start the A-Main. Jon Agan of Knoxville, Iowa picked up the inagural checkers in 2010 with a last lap pass. Gregg Bakker of Sioux Falls took the trophy last year in 2011. Along with the JSTS 360 Winged Sprints, Heartland Racing Association Traditional Nonwing Sprints will also take to the track. The HRA cars have competed at the speedway three times prior with Sioux Falls pilots Clint Garner, Dylan Peterson, and Brett Mellenberndt each with a win. Also in attendance will be the B and B Salvage Hobby Stocks competing in double features. Racers will not run heats in this division. They will draw for the first feature lineup and the second feature will be lined up as an invert of the first feature finish. The results of these two features will sort out the 2012 B and B Salvage Hobby Stock Challenge Series Champion.

Please make sure to join us for these events as pit gates will open at 5 pm, grandstands open at 6 pm, and racing will start at 7:30 both nights.

Sprint Car Showdown Admission - July 18

From what I have found here and elsewhere on the internet should be a STOUT field of 360's including Austin & Carson McCarl, Brian Brown, Kaley Gharst and many others. A little rain this morning should make for a good race track. If you were considering this event should be a good one!

And thankfully only 2 support classes so there is a possibility of getting done before 11pm.

Like it has been said before, there are no taxi classes around here. These full bodied cars were called Hobby Stocks. Obviously you're too effin' stupid to know that.

results plz?

1)Lou Kennedy Jr

2)Kaley Gharst

3)Brian Brown

The McCarls had a rough night. I'm not sure but it looked like the rear end went out of Carsons car during the heat race and it looked like Austins motor blew up while coming to the checkers for the heat race win. Both were done for the night.

I don't remember who won the non wing but the 97 blew up in turn two with a half lap lead on the last lap and rolled into the pits.

Excellent racing and the show was over with at 10:17pm even after they had a long intermission and screwed around for what seemed like forever between races. It helps when you don't fill the infield with every class of cars imaginable.

Yes, I do need my beauty sleep, good night.

They had Carson's engine pulled out of the frame by the time intermission rolled around.

Hey spot, I thought you were watching the hobbies/taxicabs? I noticed they had a restraining order on you at the 4H barns.

Once again you're confused which is not too unbelievable. No restraining orders here but I did notice you were booted out of the barns for sniffing around for playmates. A poster of you is now hanging up in all the barns there.

Yeah, I did watch the Hobby Stocks, too. There are zero taxicabs in Sioux County. While they may not be my favorite class, it is still racing. I'm not sure what it is with you, stupidity or stubborness, but it seems you cannot figure that out. If you want only sprint cars racing, why don't you start funding some of these guys that want to move to a sprint car. They are out there.
