AUSTRALIAN RACER TO CELEBRATE AMERICAN INDEPENDENCE DAY AT THE PAS!

(Placentia, CA, June 30, 2012) For the second year in a row star Australian racer DJ Raw will celebrate American Independence Day racing in the California Lightning Sprint Car Series at Perris Auto Speedway on
Wednesday, July 4th. Joining the CLS on the holiday card will be the Amsoil USAC/CRA Sprint Cars, PAS Senior Sprints and the biggest and best fireworks sky concert in Riverside County. Spectator gates will open at 3:00 PM and the first race will be at 6:30.

The 2011 Sydney Speedway champ hopes to have better luck than he did on the Riverside County clay oval last year. On the opening lap of the main, he got turned around in the first corner and was then harpooned by another car.

For Wednesday's race, Raw will be a teammate to longtime Southern California open wheel racer Dan Hillberg. "Looking forward to seeing DJ back in action," Hillberg said on Friday. "Hopefully he will have some better luck than last year. He is a top driver and it will be interesting to see how he does against all of our regulars."

Wednesday's race will end the longest off period thus far for the CLS in 2012. The last time the series raced was five weeks ago at the "Salute to Indy" at The PAS on May 26th. Veteran racer Bobby Michnowicz of Lomita won that event. Michnowicz and his son Kevin, who graduated from high school a couple of weeks ago, have combined to win three of the first six races in 2012.

Heading into Wednesday's race, Anaheim Hills veteran "Zoom" Guy Maresch leads Hillberg by 12-points in the championship standings. Consistant driving 2011 Rookie of the year Steve Limon of Corona is third in the title chase with the senior Michnowicz and Anaheim veteran Dale Gamer rounding out the top five.

Fans who live more than 100-miles away from the track can watch the race live on the Circle Track Network. http://www.circletracknetwork.com/ Those who live within the 100-mile black out radius or anywhere else can watch it "On Demand" 24-hours after the final checkered flag.
