It was announced today by Roush Fenway Racing that in 2013 Ricky will be racing fulltime for them in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. Matt Kenseth will be leaving R/F at the end of 2012. It's great having Ricky (like Tony Stewart & Kasey Kahne before him) supporting open wheel, dirt track racing by being a car owner/sponsor. Best of luck to him in Nationwide racing this year and in the Sprint Cup series next year.

The greatest ever!

Luna's Ford engine style that won 2 WoO titles and 3
Kings Royals before a weight rule against the best EVER
in their prime and now DOMINATES super dirt late model
racing is no longer allowed/wanted in a WoO sprint
car.... Was Luna a miracle worker?

Yes, I agree. That would be a terrific move for the JJR team. Love to see them run the entire Outlaw season.

This could be a step back for Ricky in the long run. Everyone knows Roush lacked the serious funding to retain Kenseth in the 17. Unless Stenhouse brings truckloads of cash, he will be hard pressed to make any progress at that level. He is still very green, and will not be given the support needed to make any impression on a major sponsor it takes to run at that level. I wish him luck, but I don't see his carrer moving forward at Roush. As far as Jack is concerned, Ricky is a cheaper alternative.

Ricky is a great asset to the sport of racing, but 45 makes a good point as to the Business of racing. We wish him all the success. The same to JJR for the rest of this year & next if indeed they make the switch. The one thing we were wondering, is if he got told not to talk about his dirt racing on national tv. I didn't see it, but my wife said he brought it up twice in his post race interview last week. Nascar frowns at just the mention of another series, of any kind. To hell with them, we thought it was great that he did it!!!!!

Just another big brother thing that stirs the pot and now NASCAR is in it .maybe they forgot that we have freedom of speech.
We need more sprint car racing at our home track.

Yes after Dewalt and Crown let as major sponsors it has been document issues. That is why they canned the 4th roush team and all three teams have a shuffle of different sponsors just to keep the cars running. Last years two busch teams werent white majority of the year. I suspect you will see Matt in the 20 home depot car for next season.

I don't aim to please.
I aim to hit the target.

money doesn't always equate to leading the points or being the champion or even winning a race. haven't you learned anything by reading this board? LOL

I wrote seven lines regarding this then remembered its a sprint car forum not Napcar so I deleted it. Now if this means the 41 goes to WoO then good,he should be there and a second established team under R.S. colors to help the team stay in the points ,but where would you find a team to run the blue oval label when those stovebolts are kicking butt, maybe a Posse team thats desperate to break out.
