Funny how I was chastized for wanting 40 lap features here awhile back & the bullshit can't even do a 25 lap lap race green to checker. Sprint race my ass, Sprint to see who has the 1st blow out ?? No wonder I've been doing what every 1 else has been saying & supporting the local scene.

I'm guessing the wrap signal was being given the entire Steve after race interview, then they go interview a mod driver? They definately didn't want Sammy to give his opinion after that.

All the keyboard commandos are always so quick to blame the Goodyears.

What a mess to if crew guy prepared our car like who ever prepared this track we would never make it to the races!!!

How many blown tires?

21 cars out of the 24 car field blew no less than 1 tire during the feature. No wonder it took them so many years to come back to this place!

i have been stating that i m o only the woo has seen their day. same chit, different day with them. they ran the show at chico and look what happened there! i would assume this thread is about dry slick no doubt if the tires were giving out.

they are not the best show out there. plenty of local tracks nationwide but on a better show....again, jmo

Ascot was the greatest of all time..

West Capital wasn't half bad either..

Life is good...

Nobody said anything about Goodyears, But it could be them, Track surface, A certain amount of tires ( Hardness ). Maybe they need harder 1's for the surface if it looks like they need it. Politics & rules have ruined it for me. Not saying that I won't go as I have tickets for the Doty, But it sure has made it easy for me not to spend that kind of money & watch what goe's on. Funny how any product anymore is worth far more than it used to be & not really worth of shit.

Sounds about exactly like what happened at the Kings Royal a few years back when Hoosier was the mandated tire. Funny how things work both ways and how quickly people forget.

2004 Kings Royal that Jason Sides won was that disaster you are referencing I believe. And he popped a tire shortly after the finish line.

Is there really an answer to this problem? Seems to be growing around the country? Central Pa guys scream the same thing but what really is the problem...tires,surface,setup,horsepower? Will anybody really ever have the answer? If you let people run whatever tire they want and it fails than it will be the tracks fault for not prepping properly but maybe just maybe drivers need to learn to take care of there stuff a little better like in Nascar so you have something left at the end? 2011 Kings Royal was a good example of this, sammy hammered down and checked out and Tyler Walker saved his stuff enough to stay close but have something left for the end and we all remember how that turned out? We all love to see these guys put all 900+ HP to work and turn record speed laps but seeing 24 cars racing to the flag 2&3 wide is much better than watching a guy check out and win by half a track! Maybe the answer to this question is simpy throttle control and driver talent to save his stuff for the end!

Sprint car racing does not need to be like NASCAR! In a twenty five or thirty lap race, drivers should not have to worry about saving their tires. It's not like they are running two hundred laps. If tracks are prepared properly, and tire companies bring a sufficientt tire, races will be as they should.

Not sure where in the posts previous to yours where Goodyear was referenced. I certainly know that there is more to tires being blown than just the brand name on them and wasn't implying Goodyear was to blame, track surface is what it sounded like Steve was complaining about. If they would have given the mic to Sammy Goodyear may have been brought up, but maybe not, he didn't have much to complain about this time since tire wear got him a 2nd place finish rather than a 4th. Steve was mad cause he could of had Kraigs car get a 2nd place rather than a DNF.

For those not familiar with Orange Country (N.Y.) Fair Speedway, it has been known as the "Hard Clay" forever. There is nothing "clay" about the track. It is like asphalt and has been for decades. I came home tonight, looked at the results and was kinda surprised at Frank Cozze running third (even though he did race OCFS as a Modified regular for over a decade). I wasn't aware of the details of the race.

FWIW, it seems lame to blame to the track when Modifieds run far longer distances at the place and don't have such extreme tire issues and other Sprint Car divisions have raced there in past years without such tire problems. I don't really see how it's the track's fault when the Outlaws come in and have tire problems far worse than other divisions that race there or have raced there.

Yeah, I grew up in ny before moving to indy. I went to the woo race at orange county in 2007. This doesn't surpise me. The track is like a half-size syracuse, just rubbers up. Pittman won that race from start to finish with little passing. On a positive note, I just saw Mario Andretti get inducted into the frist USAC Hall of Fame class at IRP, and Parnelli Jones, another inductee paced the field of the silver crown race with one of his old champ cars. Pretty amazing for a 27 year old who wasn't around to see these guys race.

That was no "old champ car", that was the famous Ol' Calhoun. The #98 was the first car to average more than 150 mph for four laps, a big milestone at the time. 1963... Here's Ol' Calhounthe's story...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YTMMB5cIiQk

Half the lies they tell about me aren't true.

It's a black eye for sprint car racing any time this happens.

However, given the alternative, which was no passing, and guys finishing where they started, I am not sure which is worse.

Bottom line is the Outlaws shouldn't be at tracks like OCFS, or they should demand track prep to occur before their A Main.
