CALIFORNIA LIGHTNING SPRINT CARS AT BAKERSFIELD ON SATURDAY!
(Placentia, CA, April 12, 2012) The fourth round of the 2012 California Lightning Sprint Car Series is set for this Saturday night, April 14th, at "The West's Fastest 1/3 Mile Banked Clay Oval," the Bakersfield Speedway. Joining the CLS on the program will be the Modifieds, Sport Mods, Hobby Stocks and the Mini Stocks. Spectator gates will open at 4:00 PM with racing at 6:00.
Previously rained out at Bakersfield in March, Saturday's race will be the first of four on the more than half century old track in 2012. Saturday's race will also serve as a tune up for the CLS and it's Civil War Showdown with BCRA on May 12th.
Heading into Saturday's race, Placentia, California veteran Dan Hillberg holds a narrow 2-point lead over Lomita, California 18-year old Kevin Michnowicz in the championship standings. In the first three races of the 2012 season, Hillberg has a second, third and sixth place finish.
Michnowicz, who won the first two races of the year, crashed at the last race at Perris Auto Speedway two weeks ago and finished 13th. Murrierta, California's Stuart Hielscher Jr., who had not raced in three years, won the race two weeks ago. To see the Loudpedal Video highlight of that race, please click on the following link:
