CHICO, CA –
February 27, 2012…It been five months since the roar of race cars have made
laps around the Silver Dollar Speedway. The quietness will end this Saturday, March 3rd, as we will
open the pit gate at 10am and allow teams and drivers a chance to test and tune
at the newly configured race track.Track officials spent most of the winter flattening and widening the race
track to bring it back to its traditional quarter-mail distance on the bottom
while the top is almost a 1/3 of a mile around.“We’ve done a lot of changes to the race track,” said promoter Dennis
Gage.“We are optimistic that this will
provide better racing for the fans and drivers alike.”
An
important note is that the race haulers need to enter through the maintenance
gate through the fairgrounds.The pit
gate is scheduled to open at 10 am.Practice time on the track will begin at noon sharp.Practice will take place from noon to
4pm.All divisions will be
welcomed. This is a great chance for
drivers to test their equipment in preparation for the following weeks Silver
Cup Race of Champions on March 9 and 10.Teams participating in the Sherm Toller Classic at Marysville Raceway
Park on Saturday night
are also encouraged to come and test before racing in honor of a great man who
loved sprint car racing and did a lot to promote the sport. The pit fee for play day will be $25.00.
