I don't want to start a this is better or that is better. But are there any tracks going back to hoosier over good year or vise versa?

I think the tire contracts were for several years with Goodyear. If a track requires a brand of tire they are getting paid by tire company to do so. I sort of think Goodyear is getting a bad rap as I have seen Hoosiers blow.

i have seen all brands of tires blow out. tires blow when you wear them out or when you cut them.

what i saw last year with the good year was random tire failure under normal operating conditions.

it seemed like it was taking place more on the 1/2 mile tracks.

Exactly but how is that justifiable are they setting the air pressure? But yeah I'm getting it off topic I was just wondering if any tracks were switching. But I under stand the contact deals and stuff

Teams complain the Goodyears are not as good as the Hoosiers which in my mind is precisely why the racing has been better for winged series that switched away from the way too hooked up Hoosiers. During the Hoosier years I saw wayyyyy too many rubber down main events and that I believe is because of the softer Hoosier compound applying itself to the surface so easily. In an attempt to make the Goodyears bite better there have been instances of teams running ridiculously low pressure and then the tires let loose. Well duh, if you run next to no pressure NO tire will survive the stress and heat it develops. I personally want tires that racers complain about being "not able to hook up" let's make them drive these cars again.

I sure didn't hear anyone complaining of cashing those larger end of the year point fund checks thanks to Goodyear compared to the amount Hoosier was kicking in before. Plus I know in the IRA Goodyear kicked in free tires to pass out to members who were supporting the series.

People would be complaining no matter which brand was selected.

I agree and I agree it would put more emphasis on the driver. I'd like them to take our 10% of all wing dimensions too. I love nothing better than watching a sprint car back into the corner and power slide. Making the wings smaller would also negate the HP issues too.

B.O.S.S. series, in it's second season, (Buckeye Outlaw Sprint Series) only has a tire rule of you must run same RR in heat and feature. Hoosier, American Racer, and Goodyear all give $100 each nite to the highest finishing car with all four of one tire brand on the car. This is the only series (or track) that I have seen do this. The trickle down from the promoter theory doesn't work-this puts cash in racers hands each nite!
