Christmas is the air and “KWS Tonight” will be back this week with a special
holiday show on
http://www.kwssprints.com at 7pm pst Thursday. As always it will replay immediately after the first showing and will be available on the homepage 24/7 for your viewing pleasure.

On this week’s show we will debut the tentative Golden State King of the West Sprint Car Series schedule. Everyone will get a first glimpse of the dates for the coming season, as we break down the various weekends that should be must sees for dirt track fans in California.

The midway point in our 2011 walk back down memory lane will
also be reached this week with highlights from June at the Silver Dollar
Speedway and Southern Oregon Speedway being showcased.

The event in Chico happened to be the annual “Tribute to Gary Patterson/ Dave Bradway Jr. Memorial” and fan favorite Peter Murphy was the winner. The following day we then made the trek up I-5 to Medford, OR where Jonathan Allard made a late race charge to get by Tim Kaeding and score one of his four victories on the year.

Speaking of Peter Murphy we’ll have the Australian native on the line
for a call-in interview discussing the huge triumph he had with KWS at the
“Tribute to GP/Bradway Memorial.” That night saw four different leaders in the 40-lapper and happened to be one of the most exciting races of the season.

Murphy will also give everyone an update on his plans for next year,
which could be very exciting for fans throughout the state.

Also on the show this week we will talk about the fast approaching Chili Bowl Midget Nationals in Tulsa, OK and feature a short segment on health and nutrition for the holiday season, with Rio Vista Gym trainer Pocket.

The “KWS Tonight” staff would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and very happy and prosperous New Year. We hope you all have a fun and safe remainder of the holidays and we will see you in 2012.

Be sure to catch archived shows of “KWS Tonight,” along with special highlight clips from the 2011 season at

In addition to announcing the tentative KWS schedule we'll also have an interview with "Bradway/Patterson" winner Peter Murphy. The popular driver will give an update on his plans for next season and where you can expect to see him in action. Photo by Steven Cox.

On the show this week we will also have highlights from a rough and tumble main event at the Southern Oregon Speedway in June. Jonathan Allard and Tim Kaeding waged one of their classic battles from last season and in the end it was Allard coming out on top. Photo by John's Racing Photos.

So I've been looking all over for the tentative schedule and can't find it in print anywhere. Is the only way to get the "peek" at it to listen to the broadcast?

A few tidbits:

A quarter of the schedule we are running alongside the USAC West Coast 360's, so it's really nice to have some great winged and wingless combo shows. Those five races are the Tulare and Hanford events so the Central Valley fans are in for a treat.

Then at Placerville on June 30 we are paired with the BCRA Midgets to make for another great combo event.

We are tentatively planning on having the "Tribute to Gary Patterson" back at Calistoga this year, but still have to lock that down 100% with Carlene and the speedway.

The June 23 date at Antioch is the same time as the NASCAR race in Sonoma and that is always a big night at the track, so it'll be exciting to have 410's as a part of that this year. Look for some special announcements as we get closer to that show.

All in all I think the schedule came out great and for anyone from the Sacramento area the travel is definitley going to be a lot less this year.

Getting an extra race at Tulare, Chico and Antioch is something a lot of fans have wanted and of course going back to Placerville (and hopefully Petaluma) is a big plus as well. Also excited to go to Merced with all the work they are putting in there.

We're hoping to have the schedule official by the banquet on January 28.

Look forward to seeing everyone at the races this year.

Another note is you can now run for the Chico track championship (Friday nights) as there are no conflicting dates with KWS.
