Unfortunately todays climate is such that there is no longer a way for a driver to make a good living short track racing. And it seems to be getting tougher by the day. Hope that turns around, but I do not see that happening. I think that the glory days my friends are long gone!

I am not sure where you are from, but in Central Pa, 410 racing is alive and strong!! There are several drivers making a living racing. Pittman,Hodnett,Rahmer,Dewease.... I am sure in Iowa, Cali, and Ohio there are more that could be named These are the guys that will take the place of Steve, Sammy,& Danny. I will say that they are not travelling, but the are making a living racing 410 sprint cars. Just locally

I would say that in the midwest that is a dying thing. We are from IL. and race in Iowa and it seems to me that the situation is getting worse, not better out here. And if guys are not travelling then they are not going to take the place of Steve, Sammy, and so on.

Behind every driver making a living racing Sprint Cars there is an owner spending his life's savings. wink

I see, I know there are areas in this great country we live in where sprint car racing is dieing, but hear in Central PA it is thriving!! we have 305's, URC( 360's), 358 that run every Friday Saturday at Williams Grove, Trail Ways, Lincoln, Port Royal, and Sellings Grove every week end, weather promoting!!! Than you have the Northeast Mods, Late Models at most track supporting the sprinters, not to mention all the little tracks running 270's, and 600's every week end!!!!

If you ever get the chace to visit please spend some time at Williams Grove and Lincoln

Hambone28, Yes sir, you are correct. I would not say however that it is completely dying here, just the face of it is changing. Seems like the cars get more expensive, the payouts are heading down, and the number of owners is diminishing. At least that is my take. We also have several different types of cars to watch, but the original post was about who would be replacing the Big names in Sprint Car Racing and will they still be able to make a living at it. Hopefully this new club MOWA can help revive 410 racing around this area. It would be nice to have a strong club running 410's in the Midwest. I am not sure what is going on with the IRA, but that is because I do not follow them perhaps. They are a bit North for me. Perhaps one week we will take a trek out to your Williams Grove and catch a race. I have heard allot of great things about racing in P.A........

We have been in a recession for a few years.Hopefully things will turn around when fans and businesses have a bank account again!! Race teams are looking at their fuel and tire bills like never before. With there being a lot of rubber down tracks early in the night,TIRE bills are getting out of hand......And we haven't even considered how much money it cost a track just to get ready for the first night of racing alone.
