Has anyone else had any luck with a system from Sport Action Cam in a dirt car? I purchased one last year and the image sucks, it was hard to get the mount to cooperate and frankly I was disappointed with the overall finished product. Plus, there are no extra or replacement parts offered if any part of the thing breaks. The lens cover was broken off of my camera the third time that I used it. And I had written to this fellow three times with questions about a replacement lens cover and he never returned my emails. Finally got an answer from the company that ACTUALLY made the camera stating that there were no replacement parts. So I was just wondering if anyone else has purchased a camera from this firm that is used on a dirt car and had any luck with it?........Just to clarify, the lens cover broke after a mud clot bounced off of the frame of the car. The camera was hidden in an area where we thought that it would be protected within the cockpit. The funny thing was that the Hero Cam that was in the car actually caught the other camera being hit. We ended up with the Aluratek AHDVC02F HD Camcorder. If this is the one they are offering Stay Away!!!! The image from this camera is blurry and dark and overall not very good. The Hero Cam is by far superior.

Yeah, I bought the same camera.

First off none of the brackets would fit a Sprint Car cage. So we made a bracket.

Then as soon as the car began to be pushed the image became too distorted for viewing.

We called the company and they said we needed a less rigid mount, so we made another one with some thick rubber between the cage and the clamp.

When that didn't work we just got too busy to screw with it and set it on the shelf.

Piece of junk if you ask me...........

I used one of these cameras onetime. The image was VERY poor. The clamps were not easy to use on a sprint car. I eventually got a GoPro and that is the ONLY in/on car camera I will use for my video work.

Jahmo55, I'm affraid you must have us confused with someone else. See the photos below. Our mount is MADE for sprint cars.

GrandStand Video, We receive phone calls daily on people wanting to use OUR mount on the GoPro camera system they own. Seems odd that you had problems with our mount?

Sprinter79, Mr. Clark. This is not the camera we are offering here. We now sell our HD-PRO for sprint cars.

I have put some photos and videos below. These are all from our OLD systems over a year ago. The cameras have since been upgraded to 60fps @720p. The vidoes below use the same mount, with an older camera. Maybe I'm bias, but I don't see a bad picture for a flat-footed 1/4 mile track.

We do our best to handle each customer personally. We have plenty of satisfied customers. We have ALWAYS offered full money back 30 days and a 1 year warranty on all of our products. You can call me directly at 866-559-4447. My name is Chris David. We have supported this website for 3 years now spending hundreds of dollars in advertising. I'm a bit disappointed on how we were meet here recently. We are much better company than what people have said above.

3 years ago our MOUNT took this ride on an older camera system. Again, the video quality is muched improved in 3 years. This was a bad flip in an ASCS Sprint Car. The point of this is to show how strong our mount is:

Actually the mount that you have in your photos is almost the same as the one that you sent me. If anyone is interested in using this mount for a Hero Cam or a Go-Pro they are nuts. This thing shakes like mad, and it tends to move on the chassis tubing. The camera pictured above is not the camera that you sent me however. Maybe that one is better, but the one that I got is not worth the price that was paid for it. Sorry but it is what it is. I am not trying to bash here, just inform.

A couple links....

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000ABB4HC/ref=oh_o01_s00_i00_details

Same mount that SAC sells for $49.99 ($18.47 on Amazon)

http://driftinnovation.com/hd170-stealth-camera/

Camera is the old version of the DRIFT HD170.

http://www.mypov360.com/buy/Drift_HD170_Stealth_Helmet_Camera.html ($229.99)

Essentially you are paying SAC $399.99 for a system that they repackage and costs less then $250.00. I'm not saying not to buy from them, just do the research.

The GoPro HD Hero2, Contour, NEW DRIFT, RePlay XD, and more are far superior cameras.

Well there you go. That is exactly the same mount. Don't know about the camera though, that is not the one that I have.

Do you have that mount in the link that additionally has the black canvas bag that holds the camera? And the camera that has to have the screen visible to stay on and record? that's the camera and mount I tried using since July 2011. (yes, this season) with results that weren't very satisfying.

Looks like this thread has gone another direction......

As I tell all my customers: If you are not happy, I will make it right. We have a 30 day money back promise if you don't like the product. We offer a 1 year warranty on everything we sell! It would be much easier to deal with our customers 1-on-1 over the phone or email. Dragging your isolated problems or dissatisfactions out on the web doesn't typically solve any problems in business.

We have sold hunderds of these units across the US, Canada, and Austrilla in 2011. We have had 2 cameras returned in our history of business since 2007. I figure that is a pretty darn good statistic to have. I have a hard time understanding that everyone here hates our products. Doesn't add up.

As far as RacerX's business anyalysiss of our company, we appreciate you sharing your links, however, we would appreciate it if you would have taken the time to read the link we shared http://www.SportActionCam.com in order to see what our systems come included with. That link will direct you to our website where you can find all of what is included in the $399.99 price. I guess we all know how to spell ASS-U-ME now.

My number is 866-559-4447. My name is Chris and I will be glad to help anyone answer any questions about our products. We are a family owned company of racers. We are in the business of providing the best products at the best possible price. We support our customers with professionals that know racing and know cameras. Pick up the phone and give GoPro a call 6 months after you buy your camera and see if they can help solve a problem.

Yep, that is the one. The image is really bad. Almost to the point where you can not watch it. My daughters driving coach purchased the Go-Pro cam system. We mounted it and right out of the box came up with some awesome video. No vibration, crisp image, in a format that was computer friendly. The only issue that we had with the Go-Pro was that the sound was a bit funny. However we moved the camera to a different position and that problem went away. Plus the Go-Pro comes in a clear case that is very durable. The "Impact resistant" lens cover on our contraption broke the first time that it got hit with a mud clot. So this camera was a HUGE disappointment. We even mounted ours to his car for the last 360 show of the season with his facing forward and our's facing backward and when you watch the videos it looks like two completely different races with respect to the film quality.

That would be an option except for the following:

1. I would have to hire someone to work with my team only to get the kind of footage that I would need to satisfy my sponsors at the end of the year. It would cost me allot more money to do that as opposed to just buying a camera and doing it myself.

2. As far as I know there is not a videographer at the track at which we run most of our shows.

3. It is kind of cool having video images from every facility that we race at. I could not afford to have someone follow me around to gather that footage.

4. My buddy Patrick is using the in-car footage that we gather from my daughters races as a learning tool. Which is really why we wanted it in the first place. Again, to hire someone to capture these images is well out of the realm of the team budget.

5. If you are not hiring someone to focus on your team and you are not running in the front more often then not you are not in the frame very long. So you need someone to focus on your efforts if you are going to get good images.

My apologies to you. The camera I bought was an Extreme Cam TACK-HD from Raceoptics Sport Cam.

I just purchased this exact camera from Drift for ($210.00) plus freight with the typical mounts. None that really work on a sprint car or any other car with tubing over 1" OD.

I did modify a mount that came with it and shot some very sweet cockpit footage (which I deleted by accident after formatting my SD card after I shot the video).

The new Drift HD170 is a pretty sweet camera. They offer firmware updates from time to time to keep up with technology.

Now, Chris, I NEVER post on here. But I use forums as customer reviews when considering buying a product. If people have problems with a product regardless if you sale it or Joe Blow, I want to know if it's junk or not.

I did purchase a camera from you quite some time ago and you made it sound like it was the next best thing sense sliced bread at the time and it was the worst money I have ever spent. Sound was awful, video was awful, it was hard to use etc. That was then, oh well...

I applaud the guys coming on here and letting you know that your product isn't as good as you think it is. I think it's a great camera if it's the same camera I have sitting on my car right now.

As far as you spending hundreds of dollars advertising on here, I cannot seem to find your add. Sounds like you getting free advertising to me.

I must offer a bit of a retraction! Although up to this point I was a bit upset, I must say that I was rather surprised to have Chris call me this evening. After a short time we did agree that perhaps we had communications issues with regards to my camera. He has made every effort to try and make it right and I appreciate that he offered a fix for my problems. If Sports Action Cameras is willing to put itself out to try and fix our problems, far be it for me not to say something. So, in closing I would like to say thanks to Chris for trying to be a stand up guy and making an effort to help us with the problems that we are having with our camera. Jim Clark

The sad thing is, after all the dust has settled, only one guy here has actually posted a honest review. One guy never actually used our system and another had us completely confused with another company (see post above).

"I applaud the guys coming on here and letting you know that your product isn't as good as you think it is."

You are contradicting what you wrote??? We sell the Drift HD170 with a great mount, SD card, and carrying case. You said the HD170 "is a pretty sweet camera"? Please help explain......

As far as our advertising, feel free to contact me or the site admin for our status. We have been here for 3 years. I guess everyone thinks I'm a liar....If you want credit card statements , I guess I can post those too.

For those of you actually interested in a camera system for your 2012 season please call 866-559-4447. I would be glad to help, If I can't, I will direct you to one of the many business experts that have posted on this thread! Thanks Chris http://www.SportActionCam.com
