I can't understand why anyone could possibly have a negative opinion about such a stand-up organization. LOL

Like them or not, they are as "stand up" as any other major sanctioning sprint group. From the Outlaws to the AllStars to the ascs, they all have their issues. Good to see the WoO adding more dates. At least they aren't making the teams run twice as many races for half as much money!

No one else even comes close to a schedule like this in all of short track racing. There's definitely going to be dates added, there is a whole weekend in May that's open, unless they plan to use that as a makeup weekend for early season rainouts. Whoever posted that draft schedule a few weeks back was dead on 95% of the actual schedule.

Here is the breakdown of racedates per state:

California, 11

PA,8

Iowa, 8

Ohio, 6

Canada, 6

IN, NC, ND all have 4 each

WA, FL, MO have 3 dates each

KS, NE, NY, WI, have 2 each

the following states have one woo race date all year (probubly where the complaintes are from):

Arizona, Nevada, OR, KY, IL, MI, MN & SD.

Always wondered if Canada was just another state, now I know!

Gonna be a long 2 months, eh?

I'm sorry. Obvious brain freeze on my part. Refresh my memory of when any of those other sanctions grabbed $25,000 from a purse and let a blatantly illegal car keep a win or helped themselves to $40,000 from a point fund. LOL. To me, it seems way, way, way worse to post a purse or a point fund and then keep the money or use money advertised as a race purse and redistribute it in a sagging point fund rather than just posting a lower purse or point fund and actually paying out what was advertised.

YMMW, but I think WRG is about the most deplorable sanction going because of all the shady purse and point fund dealings to screw racers out of money they earned.

Okay Tejas and Okie sprintcar fans. Put your money where your mouth is. October is almost wide open. Talk to your tracks and promoters and schedule some Outlaw races. Here is what I suggest:

Friday, Oct 12 Creek County, Sapulpa OK

Saturday, Oct 13 Outlaw Motor Speedway, Muskogee OK

Friday, Oct 19 Royal Purple Speedway, Baytown TX

Saturday, Oct 20 Lone Star Speedway, Kilgore TX

Friday & Saturday, Oct 26 & 27 Devils Bowl Speedway, Mesquite TX

Only real answer would be to cut the purse in half and add 75 more dates, would give the racers alot of track time..

WRG is asking racers to sign contracts to only race with them and penalizing them when they race elsewhere. Due to the schedule the drivers who are signing the contracts have to be full time races so they are doing this to make a living. The problem is with only 75+/- races they can't make a living without running elsewhere unless they are one of the 2-3 well sponsered super teams. Therefore they either need to get there race count back up to 90+ or allow the guys to race elsewhere on off nights. Understandably WRG is not keen on having there regulars race elsewhere because it dillutes their product, i.e. I can go over there and see the same guys run a weekly show for less money out of my pocket than a WRG sanctioned show. Either the smaller teams are going to go truly outlaw and run wherever/whenever or they are claiming they are going to go broke.

Frankly after the issues with Jason Sides and Cody Darah I think I am just going to go to local shows anyway. Nice to have great shows at Attica, Fremont, and Waynesfield in my backyard.

What I find amusing is about ten to fifteen years ago there were a select amount of people were bitching and complaining about Ted Johnson and the World of Outlaws here on the internet.

Now today there is a different group of select people who are bitching about WRG and the World of Outlaws.

Bottom line is the series will be entering it's 35th consecutive year of sanctioning sprint car racing whether you like the series or not.

A-men

Oh, you are refering to the purse that we helped set up in order to get twice as much tow money and still have the current points fund? And to help keep the series viable for the long haul?.....

Before some of you start spouting off about things you don't know maybe try asking the one's that helped make the changes....

And further more....I don't care if the over-rated WoO has 125 races, I won't be going to any of them. May just be a small thing to the WRG, but it is all I can do to protest the way they treated Sides.

March 3rd USA Tucson, the same Saturday as a 2 day (2nd & 3rd) ASCS National show with ASCS Southwest points in Peoria, only 156 miles apart. Bummer for the fans to have to decide where to go and bummer for the drivers to have to decide which to support.

This will have very littel effect on the drivers. Those chasing ASCS points will race ASCS...thaose chasing WRG will race WRG. The fans will be the one's that have to choose. Good thing is the ASCS race is two days.

Also, you will never see the WoO back at Devils bowl as long as Mr Lanny owns the place. Especially on the same date as the Short Track Nationals.

YEP, say what you want, but I have never left seeing a WoO race and didn't feel I got my moneys worth, just on the atmosphere alone, they are well worth it to me and I have been attending WoO races since the early 80's. I don't think I have missed a WoO race at Williams Grove in all that time.

OK. I'll ask.

Why is it OK to ensure that 10 ASCS teams remain solvent at the expense of the other (insert number) ASCS headed engine teams in the country?

In other words - feel free to go ahead and add $250 tow money to the total of what the Nat traveler might get over the course of two days......and feel free to spout off and tell me to try asking the reasons for the changes to those who made the decisions.........and then explain to me how we're supposed to ask when everything was a good old secret society BS deal that the select few sat around and discussed and ultimately came up with a way to screw the local cars who make up the field for your select 10 travelers. Oh, and then don't dare ask a question or disagree or you'll be labeled and marked.

Kind of rambling here huh? Bottom line - don't piss down my back and tell me it's raining. The NEW LOWER payout structure for ASCS National races sucks and is a disgrace..............in my opinion, of which I am entitled for being more than just a fan.

Other than that - I love ASCS racing. Smile

They paid the 25k they took from Friesen and paid it in point fund money. Nothing wrong with that, you who were so critical of the initial fine in the first place.

I realize we will never agree on this. But they let an illegal car cheat to win the race, then took $25,000 and propped up a point fund that had been substantially cut this season. Ok deal, I suppose if you raced all over the Northeast with the tour. Not such a great deal if a team just ran Syracuse and got hosed out of purse money because WRG let an illegal car win the race. Doesn't really seem like much of an awesome deal for Billy Decker to get a $3,300 share at the DIRT banquet as opposed to the $25,000 ($50,000 total) he should he received as the first legal car at Syracuse.

What about their weekly show? What's the difference between the noise of a gazillion WISSOTA classes that run every Friday night and the Outlaws? I'd file that one under the category of weird. ;-)

1) The teams keep signing their contracts year after year, and not a whimper out of any of them.

2) The WRG/Sides scuffle will be settled before the season starts. Sides will be lose some money as a penalty and re-sign his contract once again. Where else would he run anyway.

3) If there were not binding WRG contracts, managing those race teams would be like herding cats.

4) Drivers and owners dream their entire careers of running the WoO tour full time.

5) We will hear the same whining next off season, and the next...and the next...and the next.

No other sanctioning body comes close to the amount of sprint races or near the amount of $$ paid out in points funds or $$ paid per race. Cut it anyway you want, the ascs cut the purse significantly top to bottom. I am anxious to see how the "new" partnership goes with the ASCOC, could be a good thing.
