I am in process of fixing up a vintage sprint and for simplicity, I want to run a carb and gasoline. The trouble I'm having is a stock chevy pump won't clear my front motorplate and its mounting tabs allowing it to bolt on the block. If the bowl was lower, it would clear. Is there a pump out on the market for this application? Perhaps there is someone in a sprint series that runs a carb and has experienced a similar situation? thanks

We are using a piston type fuel pump on the traditional sprints that clears just barely. I would call Travis at Mora Motorworks on the specifics.

Thank you!

Those Race Pumps piston pumps put out a lot more pressure-flow than you need and Race Pumps will tell you to run their fuel pressure regulator.

I have a stock pump on my daughter's 305 trainer.

There is no fuel on the upper housing side of the pump so the mod does go through the housing. I siliconed it shut in the event that something fails allowing fuel to the housing.
Mine is the pump with return but I believe 78 and older have no return.

I spaced the front motor mount with some 1/2"-20 nuts to give the pump some room as well. These move it forward about 3/8-1/2".

I have a picture and will be happy to e-mail it, but can't figure how to get it on this post. You can text or call with your e-mail address. Dave Becker 612-203-1760
