Congrats to Jerry Richert, Jr. on winning the 2011 GRP Motorsports High Five UMSS Championship Title. A well-deserved championship for the veteran Forest Lake driver, as JR JR had 18 top eight finishes and only one DNS over the course of the 19 race UMSS season.

1. Jerry Richert, Jr. #63, Forest Lake MN = 4,052 pts
2. Andy Jones #73, Princeton MN = 3,925 pts

4. Cody Hahn #23, Minneapolis MN = 3,859 pts
5. Brad Barickman #34, Richfield MN = 3,809 pts

I am very proud to have Jerry the 2011 UMSS Champion. This honors Ron's and my dream of a continuing Sprint car presents in the Twin City Area. This era extends form the 1950's through his dads dominance around the country and the Minnesota State Fair though the North Star days of the 70's to Centuria Speedway of the 80's. Cedar Lake Speedway of the 90's and to a few WISSOTA's races of the 2000's . I have known this man for the best part of 30 years and have watched his success span that distance to a domanance of his own. "A" main Sprint Car wins of close to or more the 100. We of the UMSS are truley humbled when the great driver of today come and race our shows. The past two Champions deserved their titles, but this one is very special to me as he is a true Champion of all. Night after night he would lend parts to any competor who needed knowing that at anytime this might help that person beat him. That says it all. A fierce competor, kind and helping man, and most of all my best friend!

Congratulations Sonny.

I echo your sentiments Joe. I have know Jerry since he was a pup just starting his career. He was always a very hard charging, but clean, driver who seemed to be very aware of his and his car limitations at all times. He rode out a few ugly spills in his early days but over the years he got much smoother and the crashes were few and far between. It was a joy to watch him race as he didn't use a lot of slashing arms and elbows manhandling a sprint car. Instead he had his hands on the wheel in the five and eleven positons for sideways assaults in the corners. At times like that he reminded me so much of his father as Jerry Sr. had that same patented stance in the cockpit.A Champion is a title that says you are the very best at what you do, it also says that you now represent your association as a spokesman and ambassador for the future and Jerry Richert Jr. will fill both of those roles very nicely.
