Sooner Midget Nationals in OKC This Weekend!
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Oklahoma City, Oklahoma – October 13, 2011 - For the first time ever this coming Friday and Saturday night, I-44 Riverside Speedway in southwest Oklahoma City will be hosting the "Sooner Midget Nationals" featuring the Southern Open Wheel Series (SOWS) midgets with two complete shows scheduled. Also competing both nights will be the non-wing 600's for an all-open wheel weekend of racing.
Friday night's SOWS midget feature will pay $1000 to win while Saturday night's championship finale feature winner will earn $2000. It will be the Oklahoma City appearance for the midgets since the now defunct SWIMS midget touring series back in the mid-80's that were held at the Oklahoma State Fairgrounds during the State Fair.
Among the midget drivers who have indicated their intentions on competing during the two day weekend include: Brad Loyet, Donnie Ray Crawford, Blake Hahn, Mike Goodman, Matt Johnson, Gary Taylor, Christopher Bell, Evan Pardo, Tyler Thomas and may more. Over twenty-five drivers from several different states are expected.
As mentioned and not to be left out, the non-wing 600's will also be competing both nights as well. Drivers will be competing in two complete heat races after drawing for positions on Friday night with the top twenty transferring to Saturday nights "A" main qualifier with all other drivers competing in consolation features. Championship Saturday night will see the "A" main qualifier take place with the top ten transferring into the $1000 to win feature finale. All drivers not qualified for the finale will go to consolation features with the top twelve cars from those consolation races transferring into the "A" main.
There will be no more than twelve cars in each consolation race.
