Tulsa,
Oklahoma (September 26, 2011) – Hello fall,
goodbye summer. This Friday night rings in the first
autumn sprint car event for the
Oil Capital Racing Series in 2011 which
will be held at Lynn Skinner’s “Outlaw
Motor Speedway”. Only three OCRS events
remain this season for the wicked fast sprint cars.
Race fans who wish to see these open wheel racing
machines in wheel to wheel action prior to their
call to winter hibernation can make plans to attend
OMS this Friday night.
The run for the 2011 “Harold Leep
Championship Trophy” still has four drivers in
contention with a mathematical shot for sprint car
glory. A total of 95 points can be earned on a given
night and Tulsa’s Sean McClelland leads the charge
with 1384 points. Whit “The Gasman” Gastineau of
Moore Oklahoma (-75), Owasso’s Matt Sherrell (-157)
and Stillwell’s Rafe Essary (-166) are all out to
try and knock McClelland off his perch.
Andrew Deal of Dewey holds a modest 23 point
lead over three time defending OCRS king, Rose
Oklahoma’s Jamie Passmore for the fifth spot
(1069-1046). A wild scramble is ensuing for
positions seven through ten. Beginning with “The
Princess”, Miss Shayla Waddell of OKC who has 936
points to 932 each for the Kent cousins, Johnny and
Tim, and 2011 ‘Rookie of the Year’ front runner,
Josh Toho, holds the tenth spot with 924 markers.
These positions and numerous others are vital in
obtaining the largest share possible of the year end
point fund presented by OCRS and the Goodyear Tire
and Rubber Co.
Outlaw Motor Speedway has produced some of
the best racing action on the OCRS tour. Of the five
previous stops at OMS, the competition breakdown is
as follows:
1)There have been three
main event winners with McClelland leading the way
with three such victories. Moore’s Whit “The Gasman”
Gastineau and three time defending OCRS king, Rose
Oklahoma’s Jamie Passmore have one win each.
2)Of the five “Pole
Dash” races (which determines the top six A Feature
line ups), there have been four winners: McClelland
(two), Drumright’s Fred Mattox, Miss Kacee Frazier
and former OCRS champion, Mike Goodman, each from
Tulsa.
3)Seventeen heat races
have been contested over those five events and
eleven drivers have come away with those wins led by
Gastineau who has a 100% success record. Goodman and
Mustang’s Kerry McAlister have two wins each.
McClelland, Frazier, Passmore, Mattox, Matt Sherrell,
Joe Bob Lee, Josh Toho and Andrew Deal are the other
drivers who have racked up heat race checkers.
While the nights have cooled, the racing
action remains hot as the OCRS warriors continue
their fierce points battles to the very end. Race
fans can expect a night of exceptional racing
entertainment with a high level of intensity on the
racetrack. The OCRS staff will select a fan at
random to announce the “Drivers Start Your Engines”
command prior to the main event.
