(Oxnard, CA. 5/29/07) This Saturday night June 2, at 5:30pm, marks the return of a very special event at Ventura Raceway's Ventura County Fairgrounds racing facility, when the USAC/CRA 410 Sprint Cars invade the 1/5 mile Ventura oval. This series is led by Ventura favorites Cory Kruseman, Blake Miller, Troy Rutherford, Josh Ford, USAC/CRA point's leader Tony Jones, Danny Sheridan, Rip Williams and a host of other top drivers this series will thrill fans with their high speed excitement. These are the fastest cars that race here at Ventura, hitting speeds in excess of 80mph on the straits. They always put on a show that leaves fans talking at the end of the night. It will be interesting to see which of Ventura's own VRA Stars take up the 410 Challenge this weekend. Greg Taylor, Kevin Kierce, Ron Bach, Eric Severson and others have come out to challenge these racers in the past. Will they do it this weekend? Only time will tell. Last weekend these 410 warriors raced at Perris Auto Speedway and then moved to Tulare for a rare Sunday night event. On Saturday night, 2005 VRA 360 Series Champion Blake Miller took his first USAC/CRA victory and then on Sunday night Ventura Favorite and two time VRA 360 winner in 2007 Cory Kruseman took the win.
Along with the USAC/CRA Sprints, Ventura Raceway's VRA Senior Sprints are back Saturday with another event in their 2007 season. So far Wiley Miller has the series point's lead over a fine field of 360 sprint car drivers. He leads in the season points standings by 15 points over Bob Alderman, 50 points over Steve Stasa and 65 points over Bruce Douglass. Ron Bach won last weekend's senior race and will be going for two in a row this Saturday night. This class races the same cars as the regular VRA 360 racers, the only difference is the age of the competitors, who must be 45 years of age or older.
Pit gates open at 12 noon, with front gates opening at 3:30pm. Admission for this event is $18.00 for adults, $15 for Seniors, Military and Students with photo id, $7.00 for kids 7-12 and kids 6 and under are free.
