Well, we had fun tonight at CCS. Chad and the 98 car did themselves proud by winning the feature race and finishing second in the heat. As for the Red Racer and myself,
all I can say is if the track was like it was in hot laps, boys look out, but it wasn't and the rearend spent the rest of the night trying to out run the frontend!! That's Racing!!
Results: Heat Race
1. - Moss, 34 Chevy Coupe (53)
2. - Lankford, 34 Chevy Sedan (98)
3. - Anderson, 31 Model A Sedan (27)
4. - Fink, 28 Model A Sedan (6)
5. - Hill, 37 Chevy Coupe (9)
Results: Feature Race
1. - Lankford
2. - Moss
3. - Hill
4. - Anderson
5. - Fink

You better losin that thing up with them Hoosers on the back of it,,i dont think that car ever seen tires that bite that good...It may have had March racing tires back when it ran...Just kiddin ? maybe.,,,,It would have been something to have tires like that back then on them...Good luck.....
|
Redbandana, it turned out that by the time we got on the track, we needed every bit of tire we could get. Chad had a good night in the car, but that track was so dryslick, even the more experienced guys were having trouble. The regulars at the track were doing alot of single file racing and alot of the fast guys were having trouble hooking up. But we loaded all the cars on their own power and still had fun in the process!!

We will be racing again on Oct. 15th at CCS. No video this time as we had some technical problems with the camera. Hopefully after the race on the 15th we will have some video then.
Thanks everyone for their interest.

Here's Chad in the 98 car (34 Chevy sedan) taking his victory lap on Sept. 24th!! I just bought a 33 Chevy sedan body that was an old race car (I don't know the history on it yet, but I'll see if I can find out) and I'll get pics up as soon as I can.
Don't forget, the inline 6 cars race again the 15th of October at CCS.

Here's a 33 Chevy sedan body I picked up this week, it may have came out of Iowa via OK and AR. I've got the parts to start on it, just got to get it started! The number won't be 24 or 17.
Here's what it looked like a few years ago when it was primered black and white and still on a rolling frame (the frame has a coupe on it now).
Should make a great racer!!

Come on out to our last race of the season for the Inline 6 Vintage Mods. It will be a full night of racing as this is Crawford County Speedways last points race for the season.
Dan and Brian, here's a pic of the Red Racer in about 2003 when it was still a V8 (327ci) and was left hand drive. It was owned then by GOTRA member Rich Anderson from Nebraska.

Had a great night at Crawford County Speedway last night. They had their tailgate party (with free bar-b-que) amd autograph signing before the start of the nights racing activities.
It was Andy's night to shine as he won the heat and the feature, way to go Andy!! Chad and Aaron fought it out for the second and third spots and I had front spring problems in the heat (you can imagine how loose that can make you) and with the aid of some 200 mile racers tape, I was able to hang with them in the feature.
Looks like our season has come to a close (unless something unexpected comes up), we enjoyed meeting new friends and fans (we had 75 race card pics each to hand out last night and we all ran out). Now it's work on the cars, go to a few racer auctions, and do alot of bench eacing!!
Would like to say thanks to Crawford County Speedway for their support and to all the tracks who support vintage racing where ever it may be!!

Here we are on the pace lap of our last heat race of the season. Roy Andrews of Kansas racing fame is bringing us around in his 33 Plymouth pace car. They had a tailgate party with bar-b-que, autograph signing, and a great overall night of racing at Crawford County Speedway!! The vintage mod drivers are #27 - Andy Anderson (31 Model A), #9 - Bruce Hill (37 Chevy coupe), #98 - Chad Lankford (34 Chevy sedan), and #53 - Aaron Moss (34 Chevy 3 window coupe).

Dan, hope to see you on a track next year as well. We made one of the local papers, the Press Argus-Courier in Van Buren, AR, who had a write up on the nights activities at CCS last Saturday night.
