and why would I do that?

I have No preference.

Thanks for the question however!

If they truely wanted to lower the price of tires they would allow any brand to be run as long as it durometered at what ever they deemed hard. That way the tire makers could all compete to sell you a comparable tire at a lower price.

I don't really know if the cost was so much of a factor, or the fact that 410 sprint cars were killing themselves by having tires that would ruin a decent track, make for rubber down, one lane crappy races, which has in turned damn near killed the crowds.

The answer is still being thought of yet as to whether the rule will be good or bad, but IF they can FINALLY produce some halfway decent racing, and start on time and finish by 10PM, maybe, just maybe, they can lure back the casual fans that walked away dissapointed at the crappy promotion and crappy races that were the standard of the indrusty for about 5-7 years.

Jury is still out... but the evidence so far is pretty strong... the tire is $25 cheaper... I've talked to a few teams that said they are able to sell their used ones alot better than before... but most importantly, the Outlaw shows I have seen since the tire deal have been great races. The last two have been less than a tenth 1st to 2nd... and all year guys have come from deep in the field to top 5 finishes...

An error in the script of the poll program caused the poll to not show the "ain't worth a darn" option as being voted on.

Jeff, our webmaster was quick to fix this error, so I want to thank you for the email bringing it to my attention.

Each little "glitch" in this site that gets fixed makes the board that much better.

Jeff devotes many hours to keep this site the best on the net, so never hesitate to let him know if a little tweak is needed.

Thanks again for your email.

Duane

Farmington,MO runs 410's with a couple of 360's also,we have the new Hoosier SC25 rightrear rule.Last year almost every show was won from the front row,but not this year.Last weekend Tim Montgomery won from 2nd row with a 360,the tire rule seems to be working, when I asked some of the drivers, they are complaing they cannot get their car to hook up,I just smile after talking to them, that's what it should be.

tire rule a good thing......but Attica and Fremont chose to go with the Outlaws/AllStar 12,15,25 compound tires. Bad part about that it cost the racers more money...American Racer had a RR tire for about what the racers were paying last year.... I think they should have looked at saving the local guys some money....the big deal was to cut the cost of 410 racing....well it did cut the cost of tires for the Outlaws/AllStars.....but it also drove the price up for the locals by $25

When it costs over $200.00 for a left rear at Knoxville they can stick their tire rule right up their ASS! Like most rules that are going to be the fix all, it just costs the racer more money.

I guess as a fan, I see rules different than racers.

Racers have, and always will spend more money than they have to gain an advantage.

Fans pay their money to watch a race.

Most fans feel that racing is passing not following.

When Brian Brown can win a race from the tail at Knoxville, it looks like the show will improve, thus hopefully bring more fans to the stands so the race tracks can make more money so that they can pay the drivers more money so that they can still spend more than they should.

sort of a catch 22 I guess.

In 1986, I was buying RR Goodyear tires for Danny Lasoski for $165 each. Now a tire is $200.

In 1986, I was paying $1.05 a gallon for gas, now it is $3.25. Looks to me like the tire must be a pretty darn good deal.

No rules are good. I say narrow the things a little more and take away the engine rules.

win the race with cubic inches, not cubic dollars.

oh my opinion on the tire rule?

it is a tough call but i guess having a rule saying you must run tires is prob'ly for the best.

so yes on the tire rule. as long as they don't try to tell you what you can run

You are correct in what you say. All i ment was if they make the rule to durometer 10 then let then run any brand tire they want as long as ir durometers 10,or what ever there rule says. They also say the promotoers when with a certain brand tire because the tire manufactor would put so much into the point fund. my real question is that money added on top of the already stated point fund or is it used to pay the point fund?

IMO, it seems to me that the tire rule has served the purpose of having a little more passing. But I would like some opinions on the LR too.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I always had the understanding that a winged sprint gets it's forward bite off the corner on the LR and a nonwing gets it's forward bite off the corner on the RR. Is this true? If so, why are they still allowing the D10 on the LR?

It's helped a little, but let me know when people start getting more races between rebuilds. I won't hold my breath...lol. I can see them balking on going to 16" wide, but for the love of God you would have thought they would have at least did away with the taper.

Hey Cubic, where is the taper at? I bought a new RR sc12 and we measured it several times in different places and couldn't determine that it had any taper or camber to it. I would like to hear any info you have on this. Thanks, Gdude.
