Western PA drivers Tim Shaffer, Dale Blaney and Danny Holtgraver sweep podium in final 2011 Ohio Speedweeks point standings!
Now have their sights set on Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup XX Twin 30s presented by GottaRace.com on Tuesday, July 19

July 8, 2011 (Sarver, PA) Three of Western PA’s finest swept the top three positions in the final point standings of the 2011 Ohio Speedweeks. Defending Knoxville Nationals and All Star Sprint Champion Tim Shaffer won the Speedweeks crown ahead of Ti22 pilot Dale Blaney (though technically from Fowler, OH) and Defending Lernerville Speedway Track Champion Danny Holtgraver.

All three now are focusing on winning their home track’s biggest prize as the World of Outlaws bring the Greatest Show on Dirt to the Action on Tuesday, July 19 for the Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup XX Twin 30s presented by GottaRace.com.

1993 Track Champion Tim Shaffer is one of just two local drivers to accomplish the feat, winning the Silver Cup in 2005; just three years after Ed Lynch Jr. thrilled the crowd with his popular win 2002. The Silver Cup was Shaffer’s greatest accomplishment up until last summer when he was a popular, albeit surprising winner of the 50th Annual Knoxville Nationals!

Dale Blaney won the Track Championship in 1991, and then hit the road with both the All Stars and the World of Outlaws. Blaney has won a dozen Fab Four Races and a pair of All Star races at Lernerville, but never a World of Outlaws event, much less the Silver Cup. But he does have a King’s Royal win on his resume and as well as he’s been racing around the 4/10 mile Sarver speedplant the past few seasons, he’s certainly a favorite to take home the Silver Cup this year!

In just two short years, Danny Holtgraver has transcended from a young kid eager to finish in the top ten to a rising star and fan favorite that is a threat to win each and every time he rolls his family-owned #D4 onto the Action Track. Despite winning just one career feature at the Action Track, Holtgraver has over a dozen wins at the other regional tracks including the most recent 410 Sprint race at Pittsburgh’s PA Motor Speedway, where he passed Lernerville’s All Time Ti22 Sprint wins leader Ed Lynch Jr. to seal the deal! Holtgraver has been travelling with the All Stars on the newly former Ohio region this season and, as mentioned above, finished third in the recently completed 2011 Ohio Speedweeks.

You can see Tim, Dale and Danny in less than two weeks as they battle the best Sprint Car drivers in the world as the World of Outlaws, All Star Circuit of Champions, PA Posse and FAST flyers from Western OH roll into Sarvertown for the biggest single-day purse on the grueling World of Outlaws tour and still the only event where you can see two World of Outlaws 30-lap features in one night!
