All,

An informal vintage racing event is going to happen at Kennedale Speedway at their Fanfest on October 1st. Reply to this post if you are interested. The more cars the more fun we can have. The event is for the fans and kids and is during the day with a full racing program that night. I hope to see some of you there. I will post more details as they become available.

Thanks,

Dan Carlsen

Dan, we might be able to help each other. I am working on a date in Ardmore for sept. 3rd.

I know Kennedale has a lot of interest in having cars like ours in the DFW area. We NEED to have a show at Kennedale.

Give me a call please, at 580-465-8351.

Oh, and "thank you" for your fresh interest in putting together this get- together. I know there are some that would like to be there, including me.

I'll get on it.

Now then- Is there track time and display? If I remember correctly they had both when you were there earlier this year.

VTOW (Vintage Texas Open Wheel) went to Kennedale earlier this year with a few cars to guage support. The response was very positive.

Here's an in-car video from Dan as he wheels his modified around the place.

This will give you a better view of the track. Dan is in the #98 coupe.

Again- This was only a check to see if Vintage Race Cars would be well received , and this appearance was in April.

There was an earlier show planned for june, but at the time the Texas heat was too much for many of the guys like us to make sense being there.

October should be muuuuccchhhh nicer.

Here is another shot of Kennedale. The earlier part will give you a daytime view of the facility. Track is 1/4 mile, semi banked

I have spoken with Doug at Kennedale and they are excited to have some vintage cars as part of their Fanfest. The goal is to ultimately grow the number of vintage cars to create a larger event in the future at thier track.

Just noticed that weekend there is also Goodguys at TMS in Denton.

But you won't find cars like ours at Goodguys, not too many anyways.

Pace yourself, that's a LOT of eye candy in one day.

All,

Here is the flyer for this event.  The weather has cooled down and it should be a great day.

Just a reminder to those are just thinking about coming in-

Dan Carlson is doing a story for Vintage Oval Racing Magazine and taking pics as well for the magazine. I'll be getting a little video to post on vintagesupermodified (youtube). Anybody that participates will get a copy of the video on request, and I'm sure dan will help out on his in car video as well.

The event only lasts one evening, but the pics and video last more than a lifetime. Long after we're gone, the kids will someday want to watch, and get a better idea of understanding us.

Believe me, at some point what may seem like worthless racing video and pics, become priceless given enough time to survive. I hear it quite often.

No charge on the video by the way.

Brian, Dan: Get some good on track video while you're there. I want to see that #26 Super and the #98 car on the track!!

Enjoy!!

I'm thinking about changing the engine out with the black and white #38 here. I had good results before, and I have a new clutch to go with it. I finally got that one cooled down enough to use.

The 327 I have in the 26 now is fesh, but I don't have any time on it. For next year I have an engine that will be better suited for on track use, but it will probably have to taken down a notch. It's got 14:1 compression, and that's more than what I need. Thinking about going with a set of flattops on it. The wife has already claimed the 327, so I'd hate to tear it up without knowing much about it. I don't go that fast anyway, but there's no sense in taking a chance when I don't need to.
