OK, someone help the new guy with controversies that are debated a lot here:

Etiquette & dirty driving: A lot of arguments about this stuff... what is the "etiquette" on a sprint track? From the 4 nites I've attended, seems like pretty much a free for all....what is dirty & whats a "racing deal"?

Track conditions: Someone please explain the whole thing about dry vs. wet, "Rubbered up" etc.

thanks

When your favorite driver ends up on the hook, it is dirty driving. When the driver you hate the most ends up on the hook, it is a racing deal.

HAHA So True. Dirty driving really comes down intentional or non-intentional. Although it doesn't have to be intentional to be reckless... Tracks: Too Wet=Greasy Slick, Wet=Tacky Fast (Heavy), Dry=Dry Slick, If cars run on a dry slick track long enough they will lay rubber down and the track gets tacky and fast again. Enough rubber and the track will be faster than it was when it was 'heavy', but everyone will be running the same line and you wont see much passing.

Enough rubber on the track and the only passing will be where another driver blows a right rear tire and draws a caution.

Regarding track conditions... To me, a dry slick track is like having a foot race on a skating rink. Equalizes the competition and makes for close (albeit slower) racing. Personally I like a track that has some moisture with a nice cushion. Not too heavy so that it's a freight train, but enough so that there's something to grab ahold of.
